Should I go in for more surgery after having a cyst removed from my forehead?

I just had what I thought was a cyst removed. And it was tested and came back ( dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans) a cancerous tumor. Now they want to go in a second time and make sure that they got it all. I am so scared to go in a second time. But if I don't there is a really good chance it could come back, but then again it may not. I just want some opinions or if someone else out there has been through this please write. AND also aren't they supposed to do a biopsy before going in, so they know what they are messing with.

Should I go in for more surgery after having a cyst removed from my forehead?
You forget to mention your age! Any way a fibrosarcoma is an aggressive form of cancer, the doc must go in again to make sure that everythinhg is clean as radiation is not possible because the cancer is at your forehead and radiation would "fry" your brain!! So, do not wait anynmore, go back for the second surgical round!! Best wishes!!
Reply:You should probably go in, but if you are unsure of the doctors ideas on the situation get a second opinion from another doctor.
Reply:Since they know what it was, they did do a biopsy. Since they said it was cancerous, I would go back. You want to make sure that they got it all.
Reply:you should probably let them go back in

if you arent feeling right about it, get a second opinion first
Reply:oh my gosh yes you need to go in and have it redone because you dont want it to spead if they didnt get it all
Reply:girl, if it isgoing to save your life go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:if your second guessing it, i would definently get a second opinion before just jumping in...go with your gut feeling. best wishes.
Reply:If you have/had been diagnosed for cancer and the surgeons want to go in a second time GO! They will open the original surgical site and make sure that nothing was left behind. They don't need to do a biopsy, they tested the cyst when they removed it. They already know WHAT it is. Now they want to be sure they have it all out. They only thing I would be asking is if you need to be completely anesthetized to have this surgery or if you can be put under "twilight sleep". that way you would not need to have a laryngeal tube placed. I don't feel they are messing around with you. I believe they want to make sure they have all of the tumor.
Reply:Sweetie, you should GO IN!

Don't wait. My sister had one removed from her nose. If they didn't get it all it can grow back just as bad as it ever was.

With a skin growth you remove it anyway and test it later.

Good luck and don't wait--again.

I have amedical question about the presence of an ovarian cyst can u help me?

my sister is 21 years old and she took an ultra sonic x ray .the report was that she have an ovarian cyst of about 2*2 cm do u think it's dangerous or it may effect on her fertility ?

I have amedical question about the presence of an ovarian cyst can u help me?
I have a 5.5cm ovarian cyst on my left ovary. I have had it most of my life. I am asymptomatic. That means that I have no pain and it doesn't affect my life in any way. It can have an effect on fertility, so she if she wants to get pregnant, she might want to get checked out by an Infertility Specialist. That's how I was able to get pregnant and give birth to my son.
Reply:She needs to talk to her ob/gyn. They may want to do a laproscopy to remove the cyst. If it ruptures she could be in a LOT of pain. Or he may give her meds to shrink it. Cysts are nothing to play with.
Reply:i was diagnosed as having two ovarian cysts the size of pees. they can cause pain like cramps simialr to menstartion. but they can be avoided by taking tylenol or advil, ect. some cysts have been know to be cancerous but if it was then they would have told her. having cysts can affect fertility but if she wants yo have kids and is worried about anything then she needs to talk to the doctor about it. cysts can be removed easily...so you and your sister should have nothing to worry about. just ask the doctor the same questions you have already asked and then he can give you the addvise, medication, ect. hat you really need.
Reply:she should take the medicine that makes it go away. they are easy to get rid of, don't worry, But I wouldn't just let it stay there, it will cause probs

What would you do for best about a small ovarian cyst.?

had scan showing small cyst, doc offered open surgery, not happy.

What would you do for best about a small ovarian cyst.?
I found this short article in your problem, perhaps reading it might just help you out.

What is an ovarian cyst?

An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac in the ovary. Many cysts are completely normal. These are called functional cysts. They occur as a result of ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary). Functional cysts normally shrink over time, usually in about 1 to 3 months. If you have a functional cyst, your doctor may want to check you again in 1 to 3 months to make sure the cyst has got smaller. In certain cases, your doctor may want you to take birth control pills so you won't ovulate. If you don't ovulate, you won't form cysts.

If you are menopausal and are not having periods, you shouldn't form functional cysts. If you do have a cyst, your doctor will probably want you to have a sonogram so he or she can look at the cyst. What your doctor decides to do after that depends on your age, the way the cyst looks on the sonogram and if you're having symptoms such as pain, bloating, feeling full after eating just a little, and constipation.
Reply:i too have one but have had nothing done with it...mine was discovered about 8 years ago!!!!!
Reply:Do you trust your doctor? If you do, you should allow him to do what is necessary for your health. Ovarian cysts may later turn to cancer or grow even larger and block a vital organ if not taken care of properly. I'll pray for you. Take care.
Reply:There s nothing to worry about, they may do keyhole surgery instead,if you have been advised to have the cyst out then i think you should. Its not a major op and its all safe these days being put asleep, you will be ok be brave and have it done.
Reply:i had several cysts, they bursted after taking homeopathic medicine ovarium or sth like that
Reply:My mom hade one about 3 years ago.

She drank green tea as that is said to strink or prevent cancers.

I think also, things like tomatoes and turmeric can prevent cancers, but definately green tea tree times a day.

I found a small cyst in my breast, before last Christmas, I took garlic tablets and drunk green tea.
Reply:I had one and it disburst itself, if your gp is offering open surgery, go for it as there is obviously a reason that he has offered you this treatment..
Reply:i have about 10 on each overy but as there not big i dnt have to have surgery!

the side affects i get from it are easily managable, but if they get worse, they wil have to be removed. but not with open surgery, with a lapaoscapy.
Reply:Most small cysts disapear on there own...not sure why doctor would offer surgery. I would say if it's causing alot of pain have it drained but if not leave it and it will disapear xx
Reply:see your doctor.

What is a 33-week old baby's chance of surviving if it still has a choroid plexus cyst?

Hi --

I'm looking for a doctor or medical professional who knows something about a choroid plexus cyst in infants. My sister is 33 weeks pregnant with a baby girl who has one of these cysts in her head. There is a 99% chance that she will be born [yes that is the statistic) and it will go away, but usually in that statistic the cyst had disappeared by 28 weeks. But what are the chances of a baby developing T-19 if it still has this cyst at 33 weeks?

Thanks in advance for your help.

What is a 33-week old baby's chance of surviving if it still has a choroid plexus cyst?
Choroid plexus cysts are relatively common and relatively benign. The size of the cyst is that is important. If it is small, stop worrying.

Am I supposed to miss a week of school to have a sebaceous cyst removed?

I've got a sebaceous cyst just below my eyebrow which is about an inch long, and I'm getting it removed in a couple of weeks. The surgeon says I should probably stay off school for the week. Is it normal to miss this much school to have a cyst removed? I have my gcses this year so I really don't want to miss too much.

Am I supposed to miss a week of school to have a sebaceous cyst removed?
Sebaceous cysts generally do not require medical treatment. However, if they continue to grow, they may become unsightly, painful, infected, or all of the above. Surgical excision of a sebaceous cyst is a simple procedure to completely remove the sac and its contents. Under no circumstances must one try to pop the cyst as it can lead to infection of the surrounding tissue. The neck is a vitally dangerous region due to the glands and blood vessels. An infected cyst may require oral antibiotics or other treatment before excision. Another common and effective method of treatment involves placement of a heat-pad directly on the cyst for about fifteen minutes, twice daily, for about 10 days (depending on size and location of the cyst).[1] This method works by bringing the temperature of the wax-like material inside of the cyst to a temperature at which it melts and can be reabsorbed and processed by the body as a small amount of oily fluid. This method is preferred over surgery both for reasons of associated costs and risks of surgery. This methodology is not applicable for non-sebaceous cysts, however, as other varieties of cysts do not contain the same hardened sebum deposits, and therefore do not melt to be reabsorbed by the body.

It is all going to depend on how yo feel. I think you should feel fine to go to schools sooner and may just take pain meds at night and get extra rest when taking them. At the most if you heal fast 3-4 days of bed rest should do it.
Reply:Miss school for what? You can still use your other eye? Thats kinda crazy if you ask me.
Reply:unless ur in college i would stay home a week if i could i felt bad all day today i even have a health question and if it hurts u seriously need to stay home.

Which exercise should be avoided if one has an ovarian cyst?

I was diagnosed last week with a plum-sized cyst on my left ovary as a result of endometriosis. I will probably have to have surgery sometime soon to take it out. My doctor told me it is still ok to do exercises as long as I don't overdo it. I don't know what the cut-off should be, though. I asked if I could still go to spinning classes (indoor group cycling) and she said yes. But my mom told me not to, and said anything like that could increase my risk of it rupturing. Any advice on the matter? Thanks.

Which exercise should be avoided if one has an ovarian cyst?
All excercise is ok with ovarian cyst. Cycling and even running is ok. Sometimes surgery is unnecessary and the cyst can be resolved with birth control. Unless the cyst is a solid mass then surgury is needed. Ask your doctor for atleast 3 months of BC then repeat your ultrasound. Good luck.
Reply:I wouldn't take anything to the extreme, I don't think cycling would but then again, I am not sure....don't have sex or use anything in there. I have had a cyst rupture and it is worse than childbirth!
Reply:No offense...but I guess your doc doesn't know that Iodoral dissolves ovarian cysts!!!! But he also can't make any money off of you if you don't have surgery!

My doc put me on it and my cyst IS GONE!!!!! :)

I buy mine from this site...

What is the usual age for Woment to get ovarian cyst?

I am fourteen years old, and was just in the emergency room a few nights ago, and found out that I had an Ovarian Cyst that ruptured.

So my mom is very curious, as to what the common age is to have them.

Thanks.

I am expecting a baby. The ultrasound shows an ARACHNOID CYST in sellar and supra sellar region of the brain.?

The size of the cyst is approx 1.8 x 1.7 x 1.6 cm. I am unable to find a reasonable answer from any doc. Can anybody tell me the details about this problem or refer me to a doc for this.

I am expecting a baby. The ultrasound shows an ARACHNOID CYST in sellar and supra sellar region of the brain.?
My daughter has this - and it is in the same region - there is really nothing they can do for this except watch it for growth. However, she also has a brain tumor - BUT do NOT get alarmed - this is her 2nd brain tumor.

Have you seen a neurosurgeon??? If not - go to one - they may recommend chemotherapy AFTER the birth of your child.

Go to this website http://www.abta.org OR

http://www.arachnoidcyst.org

you will find some very helpful information that may ease your mind.

Best of luck to you.
Reply:Hydrocephalus, visual difficulties or hypopituitarism are potential complications. Removal of these cysts (if they do become symptomatic) is typically quite successful.
Reply:I'm not a doctor, but my understanding is that they're not really accurate about seeing those kinds of things in an ultrasound. I know someone who's doctor supposedly saw an arachnoid cyst in their ultrasound, but when the baby was born there wasn't anything wrong.

In any event, there's nothing you can do about it until the baby is born, so you really should just hope for the best and try not to worry about it. I imagine they may do some extra ultrasounds to make sure it doesn't get any bigger.

Good luck. I hope you have a healthy baby!

Hi my name is melissa I'm having an ovarian cyst can some one tell me about it?
At any given time, most women have cysts on their ovaries. It's very common. I had painful cysts and they never cause any "major" problems. I have three children now...LOL.

What are ovarian cysts?

A cyst is a fluid-filled sac, and can be located anywhere in the body. On the ovary, different types of cysts can form. The most common type of ovarian cyst is called a functional cyst, which often forms during the normal menstrual cycle. Each month, a woman's ovaries grow tiny cysts that hold the eggs. When an egg is mature, the sac breaks open to release the egg, so it can travel through the fallopian tube for fertilization. Then the sac dissolves. In one type of functional cyst, called a follicular cyst, the sac doesn't break open to release the egg and may continue to grow. This type of cyst usually disappears within one to three months. A corpus luteum cyst, another type of functional cyst, forms if the sac doesn’t dissolve. Instead, the sac seals off after the egg is released. Fluid then builds up inside of it. This type of cyst usually goes away on its own after a few weeks. However, it can grow to almost four inches and may bleed or twist the ovary and cause pain. Clomid or Serophene, which are drugs used to induce ovulation, can raise the risk of getting this type of cyst. These cysts are almost never associated with cancer.

There are also other types of cysts:

Endometriomas. These cysts develop in women who have endometriosis, when tissue from the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterus. The tissue may attach to the ovary and form a growth. These cysts can be painful during sexual intercourse and during menstruation.

Cystadenomas. These cysts develop from cells on the outer surface of the ovary. They are often filled with a watery fluid or thick, sticky gel. They can become large and cause pain.

Dermoid cysts. The cells in the ovary are able to make hair, teeth, and other growing tissues that become part of a forming ovarian cyst. These cysts can become large and cause pain.

Polycystic ovaries. The eggs mature within the follicles, or sacs, but the sac doesn't break open to release the egg. The cycle repeats, follicles continue to grow inside the ovary, and cysts form.
Reply:Hi hun,

I am sorry to to hear that you have this. I wish you the best.

This is a condition that the doctors will let go for as long as they can as long as it is non cancerous.

Even if they do have to remove the ovary you will still produce and egg every other ovulation.

So you will still be able to get pregnant. You could also ask them to try and harvest what eggs they can just for a back up.

in any case they would be able to do invetro.

Good luck

18 weeks pregnant and ultra sound found a Choroid Plexus Cyst?

The doctor called and said they found a choroid Plexus Cyst in the ultra sounds for my unborn son. He said that all other tests that I have done found the baby is fine - no sign of down's ect. However, I have to go in for a level 2 ultra sound to do a more accurate look at everything. He said that most likely everything is fine, but I can't help but be nervous. Has anyone other mother's gone through this? Any advice or information would be great!

18 weeks pregnant and ultra sound found a Choroid Plexus Cyst?
I just went through the same thing. I received the news at 18 weeks that my baby had bilateral choroid plexus cysts. I too am having a boy (can't wait) and I was so upset with the news. My doctor told me not to worry because my NT scan was negative and so was my triple screen test. He sent me for a level 2 ultrasound, just to be safe, and the specialist recommended I have an amnio because of my age (I'm 34). This only caused me more stress and worry. The results came back and the baby was healthy. I just went back to the specialist for check up at 22 weeks and the cysts are gone. The specialist stated he sees the cysts in approximately 1 out of 12 fetuses. As long as you do not have any other risk factors, I wouldn't worry. These cysts usually clear up by week 24.
Reply:Hi,

I don't exactly know what type of cyst that is...but I had a cyst during the first tri which most women get and they said it is fine and wont hurt my little one. I don't know of a cyst hurting a baby. If the doc says it's most likely fine just keep those words in, they just have to make sure to protect them, you, and your son...
Reply:i've heard of women getting a cyst during pregnancy and they said it'll usually go away by 6 months and if not the DR will have to remove it.
Reply:I had never heard of it until your question. I was curius so I looked it up. Here is what I found:

The choroid plexus is the tissue within the brain, which produces the cerebrospinal fluid. This fluid fills the normal spaces in the brain (ventricles) and flows around the outside of the brain and spinal cord. Small fluid-filled spaces, called cysts, are seen during obstetrical ultrasound examinations in the choroid plexus in up to 2% of normal pregnancies.

These cysts disappear spontaneously during pregnancy and are, in themselves, of no concern before or after birth. There is no need to re-scan during pregnancy. Children with choroid plexus cysts are developmentally normal and indistinguishable from those in whom no cysts were seen on ultrasound examination during pregnancy.

In a few patients reported in medical journals, a fetus with choroid plexus cysts was found to have a chromosomal abnormality, Trisomy 18. In Trisomy 18, the fetus has an extra chromosome number 18 with a total of 47 chromosomes, instead of the normal 46. The great majority of babies with this condition have other physical abnormalities, often affecting the limbs (especially a clenched fist), heart, brain, and/or face. When these defects are found in addition to choroid plexus cysts, there is a strong concern about Trisomy 18, and the mother would be recommended to have an Amniocentesis to determine if the fetus has this condition.

There is considerable controversy in the medical journals about how great a risk of Trisomy 18 or other chromosomal abnormalities there is for a fetus with choroid plexus cysts. This is especially for the fetus that appears otherwise normal by ultrasound and has no other risk factors; such as mother's age, a family history of chromosome problems or an abnormal screening blood test called (Maternal Serum Screen). The size, number and eventual disappearance of these cysts did not alter the risk.

If a fetus with choroid plexus cysts has a detailed ultrasound, including views of the heart and of hands that open and close, and shows no other abnormalities, then the risk of Trisomy 18 is only 1 in about 250. The risk of an Amniocentesis causing a miscarriage is about 1 in 250.

Maternal age (mother’s age over 32) is a significant risk factor as well as other ultrasound signs. The risk of chromosome abnormalities increases significantly when CPC’s are associated with other markers rising from less than 1 in 250 as an isolated finding in a woman under 32 years to 1 in 10 when associated with other markers or raised maternal age.

Based on the medical literature and our experience, we do not recommend Amniocentesis in cases with choroid plexus cysts as the only risk factor. We do believe, however, that Amniocentesis is certainly not inappropriate and can justifiably be performed because of parental concern, even for a small isolated choroid plexus cyst.

Has anyone ever had trouble several months after an ovarian cyst removal?

I had an ovarian cyst removal about a year ago December and feel the same pain (sometimes worse) as before I had the procedure. Can anyone shed some light on the issue. I spoke with my doctor and they just tell me it's normal to have some pain. I have done several searches and can't find anything. It's not just during my peroid, it is all the time and also during intercourse. Please help..

Has anyone ever had trouble several months after an ovarian cyst removal?
Have you ever considered a diagnosis of Endometriosis? Endometriomas (often called chocolate cysts) are common and occur frequently in women and girls with the disease. See below for additional help and info:

Ganglion cyst removal, or ganglionectomy, is the removal of a fluid-filled sac on the skin of the wrist, finger, or sole of the foot. The cyst is attached to a tendon or a joint through its fibers and contains synovial fluid, which is the clear liquid that lubricates the joints and tendons of the body. The surgical procedure is performed in a doc tor's office. It entails aspiration, or draining fluid from the cyst with a large hypodermic needle. The cyst may also be excised (removed by cutting).

Purpose

Ganglion cysts are sacs that contain the synovial fluid found in joints and tendons. They are the most common forms of soft tissue growth on the hand and are distinguished by their sticky liquid contents. The cystic structures are attached to tendon sheaths via a long thin tube-like arm. About 65% of ganglion cysts occur on the upper surface of the wrist, with another 20%–25% on the volar (palm) surface of the hand. Most of the remaining 10%–15% of ganglion cysts occur on the sheath of the flexor tendon. In a few cases, the cysts emerge on the sole of the foot.

Ganglion cysts have appeared in medical writing from the time of Hippocrates (c. 460–c. 375 B. C.). Their exact cause is unknown. There are some indications, however, that ganglion cysts result from trauma to or deterioration of the tissue lining in the joints that secretes synovial fluid.

Ganglion cysts can emerge quite quickly, and can disappear just as fast. They are benign growths, usually causing problems in the functioning of the joints or tendons of the hand or finger only when they are large. Many people do not seek medical attention for ganglion cysts unless they cause pain, affect the movement of the nearby tendons, or become particularly unsightly.

An old traditional treatment for a ganglion cyst was to hit it with a Bible, since the cysts can burst when struck. Today, cysts are removed surgically by aspiration but often reappear. Surgical excision is the most reliable treatment for ganglion cysts, but aspiration is the more common form of therapy.

Demographics

Ganglion cysts account for 50%–70% of all soft tissue tumors of the hand and wrist. They are most likely to occur in adults between the ages of 20 and 50, with the female: male ratio being about 3: 1. Most ganglion cysts are visible; however, some are occult (hidden). Occult cysts may be diagnosed because the patient feels pain in that part of the hand or has noticed that the tendon cannot move normally. In about 10% of cases, there is associated trauma.

Description

Patients are given a local or regional anesthetic in a doctor's office. Two methods are used to remove the cysts. Most physicians use the more conservative procedure, which is known as aspiration.

Aspiration

* An 18- or 22-gauge needle attached to a 20–30-mL syringe is inserted into the cyst. The doctor removes the fluid slowly by suction.

* The doctor may inject a corticosteroid medication into the joint after the fluid has been withdrawn.

* A compression dressing is applied to the site.

* The patient remains in the office for about 30 minutes.

Excision

Some ganglion cysts are so large that the doctor recommends excision. This procedure also takes place in the physician's office with local or regional anesthetic.

Excision of a ganglion cyst is performed as follows:

* The physician palpates, or feels, the borders of the sac with the fingers and marks the sac and its periphery.

* The sac is cut away with a scalpel.

* The doctor closes the incision with sutures and applies a bandage.

* The patient is asked to remain in the office for at least 30 minutes.

Diagnosis/Preparation

Ganglion cysts are fairly easy to diagnose because they are usually visible and pliable to the touch. They are distinguished from other growths by their location near tendons or joints and by their fluid consistency. Ganglion cysts are sometimes confused with a carpal boss (a bony, non-mobile spur on the top of the wrist), but can usually be distinguished by the fact that they can be moved and are usually less painful for the patient.

The doctor may schedule one or more imaging studies of the hand and wrist. An x-ray may reveal bone or joint abnormalities. Ultrasound may be used to diagnose the presence of occult cysts.

Aftercare

Patients should avoid strenuous physical activity for at least 48 hours after surgery and report any signs of infection or inflammation to their physician. A follow-up appointment should be scheduled within three weeks of aspiration or excision. Excision may result in some stiffness after the surgery and some difficulties in flexing the hand because of scar tissue formation.

Risks

Aspiration has very few complications as a treatment for ganglion cysts; the most common aftereffects are infection or a reaction to the cortisone injection. Complications of excision include some stiffness in the hand and scar formation. Ganglion cysts recur after excision in about 5–15% of cases, usually because the cyst was not completely removed.

Normal results

Aspirated ganglion cysts disappear and cause no further symptoms in 27–67% of cases. They may, however, reoccur and require repeated aspiration. Aspiration combined with an injection of cortisone has more success than aspiration by itself. Excision is a much more reliable procedure, however, and the stiffness that the patient may experience after the procedure eventually goes away. The formation of a small scar is normal.

Morbidity and mortality rates

The only risks for ganglion cyst removal are infections or inflammation due to the cortisone injection. There is a small risk of damage to nearby nerves or blood vessels.

Alternatives

Alternatives to aspiration and excision in the treatment of ganglion cysts include watchful waiting and resting the affected hand or foot. It is quite common for ganglion cysts to fade away without any surgical treatment.

Can you get pregnant if you have a ruptured ovarian cyst while having sex?

Last week my boyfriend and I were having sex and while we were having it, a cyst ruptured on my ovary. I know that is what it was because I have had them rupture before. I have PCOS but I do have two children 9 and 6 yrs old. I'm now 29 and wondering since this happened while I was having sex could I get pregnant?

Can you get pregnant if you have a ruptured ovarian cyst while having sex?
you do have two ovaries and it all depends on several other factors... but to answer your question with a simple answer: then yes

if you feel you might be - try a home pregnancy test first

--------------------------------------...

after reading your additional info chances are slim but stranger things have happened
Reply:I'm not sure. You should probably see your doctor.
Reply:well i am pregnant with a cyst on my left ovarie so hey you can get pregnant you mentioned you have children every time you get pregnant a scar is left on the tube where the egg grows etc and its common to get cysts forming so nothing to worry about
Reply:Ovarian cysts truly suck. But they don't necessarily stop the ovaries from functioning. Yeah, you could have gotten pregnant.

I have a kitty 2 mos. old who has a cyst under its neck. Please Help.?

I livein a trayler in the middle of nowhere and kittys just roam wild and free. Sometimes the mothers abandon their kittens and we take them in and keep them alive as long as we can. Most of them live but some of them just stop eating and it seems like they give up on life. There is this one who we ahave had for about 2 mos. now, and now has a cyst and I dont have mony for a vet to take him to. Does anyone know somthing I can do to help him in any way. Maby to ease the pain, or know of an over the counter herbal remedy.

I have a kitty 2 mos. old who has a cyst under its neck. Please Help.?
Do not give your animal Tylenol. It can kill your kitten. The only human med you should even give your kitten is baby aspirin but you need to call a vet to get the right dosage for your kitty depending on its weight. If I were you I would call the Humane Society or take him there to see if they can help you. They sometimes have programs to help people with low incomes.
Reply:Ok. Look I don't think you should own animals if you do not have money to take care of them I LOVE cats and I can help you. If you have the money. Get some childrens tylenol and give the kitty like two or three drops. and pour some peroxide on it.:))
Reply:I had a cat that had a bellybutton cyst. It stayed the same size for about a year and the vet just kept watch on it. At about a year old it started growing and had to be removed. It didn't really cause her a lot of pain. In fact, she didn't really even pay attention to it. Maybe you can save a little each day until you get the money to have it removed. Otherwise, with the location of it, it will probably kill her when it grows. I know that this is not what you were asking for, but I thought the information might help a little.
Reply:I don't know where you live, but there are free or very low cost spay and neuter programs for cats like the ones you describe all over the country (http://www.feralcatproject.org/). Google it and find one near you. When you take the cat in they will also check it for health concerns and will be able to help you. If you find a free one get as many of those cats in as possible. It would be the best thing you could do for them! I hope everything is okay!

I had a ultrasound to check on my ovaries and they found a cyst?

my doctor said it should go away on its own she act like its no big deal i been trying to conieve for the past year .im sure this has something to do with it has anybody has this condition and if they did i would like to know the steps they took and did they get pregnant when they got rid of the cyst. i hope when the cyst get remove i can get pregnant.hopefully it a little promblem and be treated .

I had a ultrasound to check on my ovaries and they found a cyst?
I've had many ovarian cysts. It is more common than some women think. Actually, you get them every month between menstrual cycles. The come and go every month. Although it is common that they don't "rupture" right away on their own. In those cases, whole ovaries, or partial ovaries can be removed, (that's only if they don't go away on their own and are so enlarged surgery is required). It is still possible to get pregnant with only one single half ovary!

I with pregnancy on every woman wanting to be a mom. It is a wonderful experience and I hope everything works out for you!

Hope it helps!
Reply:well, i found out i was pregnant from my family doctor, and then i went schedule me an appt. at an OBGYN, and when i went in there, she said i was 3 months pregnant. Then when she did the ultrasound, she said it looked like i had a cyst. I had to go 2 hours away to a specialist and they said ive been having this cysts for some time now. So when i was about 5 months pregnant i went into surgery b/c it was sooo big that they had to cut me open to remove it. They said the baby couldnt grow if i didnt get it removed. It was a scary thing for me until 2 days after my surgery i got to hear my babys heartbeat and see her moving on the screen. I felt so much better and her heartbeat was great and strong. My doctor told me before the procedure that this happens sometimes to women and they just dont know they have it. It was a good thing i had it checked out b/c they said it weighed like 3 lbs. It wasnt cancerous but it was real big that there was no way the baby wasnt going to be able to grow. 4 months later i gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Nothing was wrong with her or anything. The whole pregnancy was a breeze after that. They just keep a close eye out on you. So anyways, i dont think that having a cyst can mess up you having a baby, b/c mine was sooo big that i been having it for atleast a half a year. Take care and im here if you need to talkabout stuff! ive been thru alot and im only 22!! good luck!!!
Reply:I went to the ER last december just 3 weeks after an abortion due to pain. They found a 3CM size cyst on my right ovary. They said it should go away blah blah blah. I've taken birth control pills, I still feel it..not as bad but some months when I ovulate It makes me cry. So it comes and goes. The doc told me they won't remove cysts unless they are large and VERY bothersome because it's an invasive surgery.

One more case: my step sister at 19 was told by some quack doc. that due to her MANY cysts she would be unable to have children which crushed her world. She quit using birth control all together and 2 months later, she found out she was pregnant with my beautiful healthy niece who will be 4 next weekend. She didn't need any extra surgerys as far as I know.

Best of Luck to you...
Reply:Ya , I had 1 too. There is a certain size whihc doctors consider normal n not harmful, if ur cyst does not grow over that size they prefer not to give medication or remove it as they hope it goes on its own. But u should monitor it monthly or every other month to c how its going. i know someone who got pregnant over cysts with no problem, but had to remove it during her pregnancy cause it grew and was not good for the baby. She gave birth to a healthy baby. If ur ovulation is normal then dont worry. Just let the doctor make sure u dont have blocked tubes and ur hubby is tested, maybe it isnt from ur side. Good luck.

I have a cyst on the back of my neck that is probably infected. What can I do to make it stop hurting until I can go to the doctor?

What can I do at home to help with infected cyst?
antibiotic ointment
Reply:Take 2 aspirins or acetaminophen to kill the pain. If the skin is broken, put some peroxide on it. It also helps if you put warm-hot water on a washcloth and press it on the area.
Reply:put a hot wash rag or hotpack or bottle on the area and it will bring it to a head,It will probably leak out some of the poison that;s in there. For pain take some tylenol or aspirin and that will help with the pain....lots of luck,.,.

Anyway to improve chances of conceiving after having history of cyst rupturing and miscarriage?

history of miscarriage on 10/11/03

tried for my 2nd for 2 yrs birthed him 12/10/05

missed period for 2 months then had ovarian cyst rupture on 10/2/06 trying to conceive a 2nd baby please help w/ similar cases and how to improve chances

Anyway to improve chances of conceiving after having history of cyst rupturing and miscarriage?
Have sex three times a week.

Having regular sex is the best way to get pregnant. Couples often try to time everything perfectly for ovulation but do not have sex when they think they are not ovulating. It is true that sex that is not within the time of ovulation will not result in pregnancy. However, because women do not always ovulate when they think they will, having sex three times a week will help to a woman cover her bases, so to speak, and not miss an opportunity to get pregnant.

2. Use an ovulation prediction kit or fertility monitor.

Using an ovulation kit to predict when you are ovulating will improve your chances of getting pregnant. For many women charting or other methods of ovulation prediction are too confusing. Ovulation prediction kits work by reading LH surges prior to ovulation. They are relatively easy to use and are generally accurate for predicting ovulation. Fertility monitors, such as the Clear Blue Easy monitor, are also a worthwhile investment if you would like to get pregnant faster. Fertility monitors are similar to ovulation prediction kits in that they read changes in LH but they also read changes in other hormones and don’t require any guesswork for couples. They are easy to use and will tell you when the best time to get pregnant is.

3. Have sex before ovulation (not after).

Sometimes couples get confused about the best time to have sex in relationship to ovulation. You have a small window of time each month to get pregnant. After a woman ovulates the egg will survive approximately 24 hours. Sperm, on the other hand, will live for up to three to five days. This is why having sex two to three days before ovulation will increase your chances of getting pregnant. Don’t wait until the day you ovulate to have sex. Your partner’s sperm will last longer than your egg and you don’t want to miss an opportunity by waiting.

4. Don’t rely on the Calendar method for predicting ovulation.

A lot of couples have heard to have sex around day fourteen of your cycle. This is based on the calendar method and assumes that you have a regular 28-day cycle and ovulate mid-cycle. Although this is better than just picking an arbitrary day to have sex, it is not a very accurate way to predict when you ovulate. Many women do not ovulate on day fourteen and knowing precisely when you ovulate will help you time intercourse better. Ovulation prediction kits, looking at previous months bbt charts, or watching for body cues will help you to determine when you ovulate.

5. Charting may not be the best way to predict ovulation.

Charting is great for tracking your cycle but it does have disadvantages. By the time you can see ovulation on a bbt chart, you have already ovulated. It is good to chart so you can track your cycles, see if you ovulate the same time each month, and also so you can look back on your cycle and see if you timed things right. But if this is your first cycle trying to get pregnant or if you are not ovulating at the same time each month, an ovulation prediction kit would be more helpful.

6. See a doctor before you start trying to get pregnant.

Make sure you are in good health and have had a regular check up from your OBGYN or medical provider. Untreated infections, sexually transmitted diseases, or poor health can affect your chances of getting pregnant. Its good to see a doctor as well as start taking prenatal vitamins prior to trying to conceive.

7. Don’t smoke, drink alcohol, or abuse drugs when trying to get pregnant.

This may seem like common sense but many women do try to get pregnant while smoking, drinking or using drugs. Smoking, drugs, and alcohol can affect your fertility. It will also affect your unborn child. It is important to stop smoking or using drugs and alcohol before getting pregnant and not wait until you find out you are pregnant.

8. Have enjoyable sex.

Sometimes when couples are trying to conceive, sex becomes a job or function of reproduction and is not as enjoyable. Plan a romantic evening or try something different to spice things up. How you are feeling sexually may factor into your chances of getting pregnant. Some researchers believe that having an orgasm during sex increases your chances of getting pregnant. For women, the spasmic movements of orgasm will help pull the sperm into the uterus and for men a better orgasm may increase the man’s sperm count.

9. Have sex in positions that keep sperm inside the vagina longer.

The missionary position is a good position to use when trying to get pregnant. Avoid positions where the woman is on top. Gravity will allow sperm to leak out with these positions. Also try placing a pillow under your hips to help tilt your pelvis and keep the sperm in longer. Don’t get up right after sex. Try to relax and allow the sperm to stay in the vagina as long as possible.

10. There is no such thing as trying too hard to get pregnant.

Most couples get pregnant within a year of trying. If you have not gotten pregnant within a year consult your doctor for advice.
Reply:MAKES ME WONDER WHETHER OR NOT YOU EVEN ASKED ANY DOCTORS.....
Reply:same thing happened to me. no luck yet. good luck to you though. just keep trying :)
Reply:Recurrent miscarriage:

Chinese medicine can have a very useful role in the treatment of recurrent miscarriages as it detects any possible weaknesses in either one or both partners, and, by correcting them, can ensure that conditions for a future pregnancy are optimised. This is particularly the case if underlying menstrual conditions are present that need to be regulated, such as the existence of polycystic ovaries or endometriosis, where a weak hormonal output from the ovaries during pregnancy might endanger the development of a foetus.

Studies now support practitioner’s experience that Chinese medicine can play a significant role in the prevention of recurrent miscarriages. Women whose recurrent miscarriages are immune-related benefit from Chinese herbal medicine prior to their next pregnancy, a research from Japan shows. A study from Shanghai indicates that in a large percentage of women with a history of recurrent miscarriage who again show signs of a threatened abortion, the pregnancy can be saved with correct treatment.

In pregnancies at risk (history of infertility or previous miscarriages), women may be asked to continue taking their basal body temperature (BBT) readings for the first few weeks into the pregnancy: valuable information regarding the hormone regulation is thus obtained, and the vigour of what we call Kidney Yang (stable maintenance of a raised temperature), an important indicator of the stability of the pregnancy, is thus monitored. If there is a drop in temperature, herbs need to be administered to support ovarian functions.

Should I still go to the doctor after a ganglion cyst has went away??

I had a lump on my hand..researched it on the net. I came to the conclusion...I am not a doctor but decided it was a cyst (lets just say 95% sure) Well I was going to wait to go to the doctor when I got some health insurance...which now I do..but it suddenly went away. I was amazed..maybe it was the piece of Salmon the I ate..I do not know. I would be shocked if the salmon made it go away...hooray!! Should I still go get it checked out or just wait until I go back to the doctor for a phsycal ..which is coming up in a few months??

Should I still go to the doctor after a ganglion cyst has went away??
If it went away on its own it probably wasn't a ganglion cyst. See your doctor if it comes back.

P.S. the salmon didn't make it go away, but it is good for you, so keep eating it.
Reply:It was not the salmon that resolved it- it just spontaneously resolved. It will probably come back at some time, and even with surgery it often comes back. Ask your doctor when you go for the physical.
Reply:Yes, its always better to go and talk to a doctor rather than searching on internet.

Ingrown hairs usually look like a pimple with a white head and a darkshadow in the center...they can be popped and the hair comes out...

What you are describibing sounds like something the doctor needs to look at, especially after 6 months...pimples and ingrown hairs pop themselves within a week or so...

What do doctor's do when someone has an Arachnoid cyst (mater)?

Arachnoid cyst is a weblike membrane without blood vessles, and does noy penatrate into the small depressions. IT's between the pia mater and archnoid mater is the subarchnoid space, which contains cerebrosspinal fluid.

What do doctor's do when someone has an Arachnoid cyst (mater)?
Arachnoid cysts that do not cause significant mass effect or symptoms, regardless of their size and location do not require treatment. If there is severe mass effect on surrounding structures or if there are symptoms then surgical treatment is recommended. The following table summarizes the treatment options.

Procedure Advantages Disadvantages

Drainage by needle aspiration or burr hole drainage Simple and quick High rate of recurrence of the cyst and return of symptoms

Craniotomy with excision of the cyst wall and fenestration of the cyst into normal communication with CSF pathways Permits direct inspection of the cyst. Avoids permanent shunt in some cases. Allows visualization of vascular structures Post-operative scarring may lead to a blockage of the fenestration leading to reaccumulation. More invasive

Shunting of the cyst: Technically simplest procedure Patient becomes shunt dependent. High risk of shunt- related complication

Can i concieve a child even if I have mulitple cyst on my uterus?

how do you prevent cyst from coming on or growing on a uterus what are the dangers

Can i concieve a child even if I have mulitple cyst on my uterus?
I have a condition called polycstic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and I just had a little girl in February. I was told that it would be hard to have another child, but she's now 3 months old, so it is possible. As for preventing cystic growth, that's pretty much not possible. As a delay in their growth rate, keep healthy, stay away from fatty foods, drink more water...starting a 2500 cal diet would be advisable (you can either talk to a dietician or follow the American Diabetic Association regime). When I decided I wanted to get preggers, I took geritol and made my husband take it also. I was pregnant within 2-3 months-the increase vitamins did wonders.
Reply:i had cysts on my ovaries and the doctor told me to take advil for every 6 hours 2 days before my period to help desolve them you def want to try to get rid of them b/c my aunt had one bust and it took her almost nine years of trying before finally having a kid
Reply:I have PCOS and have concieved twins and a baby on the way. If the cyst goes untreated, it is possible for it to be pretty hard to concieve. It's very simple to treat. Your doctor should send you to a specialist and they give you an antibiotic. The pills also make you lose weight.

Good luck!

i accidentally found out that i have a 10 cm cyst on my right ovary...accidenatlly, since i dont feel any pains on the lower portion of my abdomen except when i'm having my periods, w/c is irregular..(there was a time when i only had 2 periods in a year) i also found out that i have polycystic ovaries. how do i manage these two conditions?

Are there any doctors or OB-gyne there who's in need for a patient who has these conditions for further medical explorations and studies. i'm willing to volunteer..

I accidentally found out that i have a 10 cm cyst on my right ovary...?
So what you're really asking is "how can you get medical treatment for free?"

Look into social services, welfare, charity care, and check with area hospitals for medical assistance programs.

Should i see a dr for what i think is a ruptured ovarian cyst?

i was in the hospital in june for severe abdominal pain and it was a hemorrhaging cyst. last night i expereinced the same pain as before: full feeling, pain in abs-chest-and back, extreme shortness of breath, feeling very faint, and it was extremely difficult to roll onto my side let alone sit up. gradually i felt better (after 800 IB) and i seem to be following the course of healing i did when i was in the hospital. is it ok to just let these things go away on their own at home when the symptoms are so debilitating?

ive been on mirena for a year but june was my first cyst ever

Should i see a dr for what i think is a ruptured ovarian cyst?
Oh wow, I went through the same thing in May! It was something I have never experienced before, and I didn't know what it was. Went to the ER, had testing done to rule out other things (ie gall bladder problem, appendicitis, other...) and an ultrasound showed ovarian cysts. BAM, that was it.

If you are still having problems with the pain, I think that you definitely should give your gyn a call. In my case, I hadn't had much trouble since the initial 'attack'. I was told to see my gyn for a follow up, and when I finally did, she didn't even do an exam. I wasn't symptomatic anymore.

I have stitches on my upper right arm from a cyst removal. How long before I can play baseball?

I had a cyst the size of a fingertip removed from my upper right arm and it is now stitched up. The doctor says come back in two weeks to have the stitches removed. Can I play baseball or is swinging a bat and throwing going to disturb the stitches? Plus they said to keep it dry and clean. Cannot really avoid that playing baseball. Any suggestions?

I have stitches on my upper right arm from a cyst removal. How long before I can play baseball?
no it is not good to play baseball at this time until u go back to see your doctor to have your stitches removed. and then you should ask your doctor whether or not it would be okay because you dont want to hurt yourself unless it will be worst damage for you the next time. so just take it easy. a couple more weeks to play will be here fast as you know it.
Reply:Really? I had my stitches taken out after less than a week and mine was huge. I was really worried about it for like the first day but nothing ever happened to it. What is your position? I wouldn't want to be sliding around bases but I am sure you can throw and hit. Try it out and see how it feels. Baseball can be pretty slow most of the time so it's better than if you wanted to play basketball or soccer. Keep it covered while you are playing you definately don't want to get dirt in it. Get a large bandage or a long sleeved shirt under your uniform. You should have asked your doctor all this she/he probably would have told you it's ok just keep it covered.

What is on my wrist? I don't think it's a ganglion cyst.?

Whatever it is it's in basically the middle of my wrist. It's only noticable when i bend my hand down. It's hard to the touch, and hurts if pressed too hard. I've had it on my left wrist since I was in 10th grade, going into my second year of college now. I asked my science teacher what it was he said a ganglion cyst, and that it would probably go away after awhile, would need surgery to be removed, or hit it with a book. But I've looked some info up on the ganglion cysts and it doesnt seem to be the same. Also about a month or two ago I noticed one on my right wrist, in the same spot as the one on my left wrist is. And last week my wrist hurt, i had to keep rubbing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And I do plan on going to ask a doctor about it when I have the time, which right now I dont.

What is on my wrist? I don't think it's a ganglion cyst.?
If you're really concerned about it you should make the time to go and see a doctor. Chances are it's probably nothing to be concerned about. But if it is then don't put it off any longer.
Reply:I have a bump/lump on my wrist also and I was told a couple of different things it could be-one is Tendonitis and the other was Rheumatoid arthritis and the last was a cyst! So when u find out what yours is-let me know too will you!?
Reply:I've got the same thing. There's fluid in the middle of them. The Dr. said that they inject it with a needle and draw out fluid.

Mine wasn't very big so he said it would be more painful than it was worth. Every once and a while I'll bend my wrist and hit it against the wall. Hurts for about a day then goes away. A couple cocktails help before hitting it.
Reply:How will I know what is on your wrist without my seeing it?

Bring it to my hospital and hold some hard currencies. I assure you, your problem will be solved

Does anyone here have/have had a thyroglossal duct cyst?

I have a thyroglossal duct cyst and am getting it removed by operation. I AM HORRIFIED. Can anyone relate to me?

Does anyone here have/have had a thyroglossal duct cyst?
Not to worry.

Though they are not terribly common, they show up from time to time. The surgery isn't bad, usually just a small incision under the chin so that the surgeon can get to it to remove it. It does depend on the size, but the ones I've seen (7 or 8?) have been relatively small - they are usually caught pretty early.

I would think that you should be able to go home the same day - hopefully not much pain after.

Good luck and please don't worry.

PS - be nice to the anesthesiologist - we're pretty cool guys

Should a pelvic exam be the next step after finding an Ovarian Cyst?

I am a 26 year old woman, recently diagnosed with a cyst on my left ovary, after an ultrasound. My physician scheduled me for an appointment with my Gynecologist this week. I called to confirm and find out what the next step was, and if my starting my period would interfere with the exam. They stated that it would not because they only planned to do a pelvic exam anyway! If I'm not mistaken, a pelvic exam will only allow them to feel the cyst outside. Shouldn't there be a more thorough "investigation"? perhaps a biopsy, some sort of culture under a microscope or something? I just want to be proactive and know if I should be concerned or plan for any surgical proceedures in the near future. I am optomistic and won't assume its malignant, but it is painful and I want to do everything to ensure that I remain fertile, because I would like to have children. If my thoughts are accurate, would I be out of place to insist on further testing from my" Gyne"?Anyone??

Should a pelvic exam be the next step after finding an Ovarian Cyst?
Ultrasound is the diagnostic test they do to find ovarian cysts.

They probably wanted to wait until after your period for a number of reasons... doing a pelvic exam... they can feel the cysts possibly externally/internally %26amp; they may do another ultrasound to see if they are "functional" or if they stay the same size or not (cysts sometimes come %26amp; go w/ your period, so they would want to wait until after your period to see if they went away).

There are no other tests other than the ultrasound, unless a cyst was solid (not fluid filled) then they occasionally do a special ultrasound called a doppler in which they check bloodflow to rule out cancer... (altho the only way to truly rule it out is by removing the cyst surgically %26amp; doing a biopsy).

Often they wait a few months %26amp; see if they shrink or go away.

I know this as I have cysts I am having removed this month. We watched them for almost 3 yrs before removing them.

You should be fine.
Reply:Well they might be able to tell more about it from the pelvic and then order the necessary tests if they are indeed necessary. That's why you were referred to them because they know what they're doing. THey don't want to worry you without knowing what they're facing.
Reply:Ovarian systs generally come and go. I have had one for years, it grows and then shrinks. It is common to do a pelvic exam after finding a syst. They will most likely do another ultrasound in the near future to monitor the syst. I have had 2 children since being diagnosed. Also, one child after being diagnosed with a tumor on my uterus. Be positive and just take it as it comes.
Reply:I'm 24 and I just had my left ovary removed 2 months ago because of a benign tumor I had on my ovary. It was very painful. They are going to probably do a pelvic, make sure that the cyst is the consistancy of a cyst and not a tumor/cancer, and then give you some birth control to try and shrink it. (That usually works from what I have heard.) They did a cat scan on mine, and then I had to have some blood work done to rule out cancer. Then they decided "it was a 3" by 3" block basically and they had to remove my ovary. I was then diagnosed with PCOD.
Reply:I had an ovarian cyst at 15, it was pretty bad. They did not do an internal gynaecological exam, as they decided they did not need to after examining the ultrasound and therefore knowing what kind of cyst is was. It is possible to have a cyst that stays for a short period and it benign (like mine). It caused some pain but it went away shortly afterwards and so far apparently no lasting problems. If it had stayed or caused more pain, they would have maybe done a laparoscopy to biopsy, or other factors, but a simple cyst I don't think it generally enough to warrant that if they can already tell it's just fluid-filled and likely to go. However discuss all your concerns with the doctors and seek a second opinion if need be.

Is it possible that a transvaginal scan pick up on a ovary cyst?

i miscarried and had a transvaginal scan done twice but i think i have a cyst on my left ovary as occasionaly i have a pinching feeling in my left side.right at this moment i have this pinching pain and has lasted since my last peroid has gone which is five weeks ago .i am still waiting on a peroid.last year i missed a peroid for one month and the doctor said it happens sometimes. what i like to know would the transvaginal scan pick up the cysts or has anyone else have had these pains

Is it possible that a transvaginal scan pick up on a ovary cyst?
A Transvaginal ultrasound is the best way to look for ovary cysts.

You should take a home pregnancy test to make sure you are not pregnant, as one of the previous persons who answered mentioned an ectopic pregnancy could be possible. If this is the case, the sooner you catch it the better, it's usually caught on time because of these pains, but if you just let it go, it can cause you serious health problems and could even be fatal if it goes untreated.

Ovulation also causes pinching pains like that, so if you ovulate very late in your cycle it could be this also.

I just re-read your question, if you've had this pain for 5 weeks, I'm guessing it's the cyst on your ovary causing you pain. These can be removed if they are bothersome. Definitley talk to your doctor about it though.
Reply:Yes, trans-vaginal scans are the most common ultrasound scan for ovarian cysts. You may also be experiencing ligament pain instead of a cyst. Try a warm compress or heating pad there - it usually helps with the pain. Some gentle massaging over the area may also improve circulation to the area.

Definitely ask your doctor as sometimes pelvic discomfort like that could be from a ectopic pregnancy (the egg does not travel completely out of the fallopian tubes when fertilized), or could be a sign that the previous miscarriage was not completely cleared.
Reply:I actually just found out that I have cysts on both of my ovaries. They were found during an ultrasound,I have had some tiny pains. If the cysts are small and not painfull they dont do anything ,they say they will most likely go away on their own.I think to help ease your worries make sure you go see your Gyno, get an ultrasound done.Good luck:)
Reply:I had a cyst on my ovary about a few months ago. The doctors found it by giving me an ultra sound. Yes There was a pinching pain and your story sounds very similar to mine. They do most likely go away, which means they will rupture on there own. Try taking motrin or ibuprophen it will help the pain. Best of Luck!!!

Red Lump? I don't know what it is! Cyst? Boil? Pimple?

I just posted thins but I am reposting with a pic so maybe I will have a better response. I have this weird bump that came pretty much out of no where. I have heard many things of what it could be. A boil, a cyst, just a huge pimple. I am freaking out about it cause I have no idea what it is! It's scary to me! Its probably around the size of my fingernail but the bump is under my skin. On the surface its red and looks kind of scabby and dry. It doesnt really hurt but it's kind of sore to the touch. It doesnt itch or anything. I have no idea! Does anyone know what this hard red bump is!?!

Red Lump? I don't know what it is! Cyst? Boil? Pimple?
It could be simple acne. You are the right age to be getting hit hard with it. But as far as it being scabby and dry on the surface, acne usually isn't unless it's already starting to heal. I, personally, would go to a dermotologist if you are worried about it. Sometimes things like this are nothing, but it's worth your time and money to make sure.
Reply:It is Acne honey.

Here are some of my Natural Acne Remedies that WORK:

The juice of one fresh lime added to a glass of boiled whole milk (a tsp. of glycerine may be added for dry skin) is excellent as a face wash for pimples blackheads, and the like, and for cracked skin.

Garlic Juice with 3 parts water is an excellent cleansing agent. Raw garlic applied ( rubbed) on the face can make persistent pimples/acne even in adults disappear without a trace/scar with repeated applications. The external use of garlic helps to clear the skin of spots, pimples %26amp; boils. Taking 3-4 pods of raw, skinned garlic, finely cut, combined with puffed rice and swallowed with water helps to clear skin infections quickly. The raw smell of garlic can be avoided by first soaking the skinned pods for a half an hour in milk.

1 tsp. Groundnut oil mixed with an equal amt. of lime juice may be applied daily to prevent formation of blackheads, pimples etc.( Lime juice will break the moleculecular structure of groundnut oil into amino acids so that the skin does not absorb the oil.)

1 tsp. Honey mixed with water is good for all skin blemishes, and leaves the skin youthful %26amp; glowing. Honey mixed with milk, curds and ground sesame seeds in equal proportions is a sure formula for fair and lovely skin.

Turmeric paste mixed with chana dal powder or whole wheat flour is very effective for all minor skin blemishes. Haldi powder mixed with sugarcane juice helps to remove wrinkles %26amp; is good as an anti-ageing remedy. Haldi mixed with pineapple juice is very effective on dark circles under the eyes.

Raw Mangoes with their leaves and skin boiled together or soaked overnight in water (in mild cases) makes an excellent astringent - good for epithelium (the tissue that covers the external surface of the body) infection.

Fresh mint juice applied over the face every night cures pimples and prevents dryness of the skin. It is also useful for insect stings, eczema, scabies, contact (contagious) dermatitis %26amp; other skin infections.

7 to 10 fresh neem leaves crushed or ground - and then swallowed with water will invariably clear the skin. If it is chewed and then swallowed with water it will also remove bad odour from the mouth, and cleanse the teeth. (Buy Neem Tablets)

Take an orange peel, grind it (on the household grinding stone). Mix it with pure water or distilled water or boiled and cooled water, or rain water. Can be applied on the face for acne, especially. Fresh orange peel, rubbed on the face directly will also serve the same purpose to a degree.

The juice of green/raw papaya (including the skin and seed) is extremely beneficial on swelling pimples, acne,or any abnormal growth of the skin. It prevents pus formation, removes whiteheads, boils, freckles, and brown spots due to exposure to sunlight %26amp; most other skin diseases.Papaya is also good to achieve a smooth %26amp; delicately glowing skin (contains papain, alkalide carpain in leaves, and cericin in its seeds) Ripe papaya, rubbed on on your face will also serve the same purpose to a degree.

Pomegrenate skin roasted and powdered %26amp; mixed with fresh lime - applied over boils, pistules, pimple, blackheads and whiteheads prevents itching %26amp; infections.

Raw potatoes contain potassium, sulphur, phosphorus %26amp; protein. The enzymes in raw potato pulp combined with its Vitamin C content %26amp; natural starch are a natural skin food. The alkaline nature of the juices is an antiseptic. The acid portion of the pulp helps remove decaying or dead skin. Applications of its juicy pulp (grated or shredded) as poultice, clears skin blemishes, melts away wrinkles, banishes age spots, helps prevents boils, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads %26amp; gives a glowing %26amp; youthful look to the skin.

Radish seeds contain a bleaching agent and its emulsion prepared with water applied over the face will remove blackheads %26amp; freckles. Radish leaves crushed %26amp; applied as a poultice also help in the process. Grated white radish %26amp; its water makes an excellent astringent and bleaching agent for a fairer complexion.

Fine powder of rice, ground at home and mixed with water acts as a poultice for soothing /cooling bleeding pimples %26amp; other skin inflammations.

Ripe Tomatoes pulp should be applied liberally on your face for treatment of pimples and kept upto 1 hour, then washed thoroughly. Chandan (sandalwood) powder with masoor dal can be applied thereafter for a glowing skin. This also helps shrink large pores.

Sesame Seeds ground and mixed with water makes a very effective poultice for inflammation of the skin due to allergies, skin rashes, scratched pimples and acne.

Whole wheat flour mixed with vinegar, %26amp; applied on the surface of the skin removes freckles %26amp; dark spots. Wheat grass juice poultice is applied for sterilizing the infected area before this treatment.

Widely known, Hot wet towel compresses are the best treatment for localized infections, as heat dilates blood vessels, followed by a cold compress, which has the opposite effect.

Our body has its own self cleansing, self-purifying systems: keeping these systems working in perfect order is the best way of protecting yourself from toxicity. Drink 7-8 glasses of water a day. 10 glasses would be optimal, but if your anything like me its sometimes tough to get in the 8 glasses. Remember your skin is the largest organ of your body and is the first to lose moisture and become dehydrated.

Drink Herbal Water : It is made by boiling hair of 1 corn, with 1 to 2 fenugreek seeds in a glass full of water.

Almond Oil is good acne home remedy for dryness %26amp; inflammation of the skin. The outer cover (endocarp) of 2-3 can be ground with water %26amp; applied over the face daily. This is good for removing scars of old pimples.

Fresh juice of apricots applied on your face is very good for sunburn, itching, exzema and natural cystic acne treatment.

Application of Bengal Gram Powder (flour) mixed with curds is also a very effective treatment for pimples %26amp; other skin infections %26amp; allergies. Green Gram powder flour, mixed in water or glycerine is an excellent face wash in place of soap to remove dirt without skin irritation, and also a very effective bleach for a good complexion.

Cucumber Juice alone or mixed with juices of carrot, lettuce or alfalfa when applied over the face is excellent home remedy for pimples. Grated cucumber can also serve the same purpose.

Curd or buttermilk is good for skin irritation. Curds along with wheat flour or bran is a good cleanser and beneficial for dry skin.

Fenugreek Leaves - A paste of fresh leaves applied over the face every night and washed with warm water prevents pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, dryness, wrinkles etc.

Breast lump for 5 years & it's not a cyst?

I was told 5 years ago that a lump in my breast was a cyst (by my family doctor at the time). I recently started having some discomfort in the area %26amp; had it examined by my new doctor. Had a mammogram (which didn't show anything) %26amp; an ultrasound which showed something that they were unable to determine what it was. She said it's not fluid filled %26amp; it could be a fibradrenoma (I think I spelt that wrong). Going for a biopsy. My question is, could I have had a lump all this time that just recently turned cancerous? I figured if it was cancerous to begin with I wouldn't have lived this long, right?

Breast lump for 5 years %26amp; it's not a cyst?
A benign lump or mass (a cyst or fibroadenoma) does not magically turn into a cancer. A benign mass is a benign mass...period. I also agree that a mass which has not grown at all or very little is not a cancer. Cancer grows and becomes larger.

What type of breast biopsy are you having? Have you considered an ultrasound guided core biopsy? Since this mass is not highly suspicious for a cancer, I would not have an open biopsy. An open biopsy is expensive, requires anethesia, substancial recovery time, and scarring. After an open biopsy, you are left with an internal scar which looks very much like a cancer on your future mammograms. An ultrasound guided biopsy is highly accurate without so much trauma. Please read about them.

On one of my other answers, I said this:

In the case of ultrasound guided core biopsies, we can actually see the needle enter the mass, so we know the samples are accurate. The pathologist receives only the area of interest, so the results are much more accurate than an open biopsy, where there is a large tissue sample. The pathologist cannot look at every single cell in a sample, so the less tissue, the more likely he will have accurate results. It is like finding a needle in a ball of yarn compared to a haystack!

A core biopsy is very cost effective. An open biopsy requires a hospital OR bill, an anesthesiologist bill and a surgeon bill. Considering only about 15% of all breast biopsies turn out to be cancer, an open biopsy can be very expensive.

A core biopsy does not leave a scar. And I am not just talking about aesthetics here. An open biopsy leaves an internal scar, which looks much like a breast cancer on mammographic films.

When doing a core biopsy, we numb the area that is being biopsied. We usually use Lidocaine, like your dentist. You know how that stings for the first 5 or so seconds that it is introduced. After that, there should not be pain. And, other than the occasional drama queen, I have not heard patients complain about pain. I have assisted the radiologist in many of these procedures (if I had to come up with a number, a conservative number would be 500 procedures). Post procedure, you are able to get back to your normal lifestyle. We ask patients to take it easy the rest of the day (ie, no vacuuming or lifting weights), but after that, there are no restrictions.

Best wishes....

Reply:I hope your biopsy goes well, and you end up with a benign result. Let me know, if you can! Report It

Reply:If the lump you had looked at 5yrs old an it hasn't grown I would doubt it is cancer. Good you are going for a biopsy, but what ever it is get it removed. Just having a lump is gives one anxiety.

Fatty tissue lumps usually can be aspirated with a needle and they can tell what it is but as you said the doctor said it wasn't fluid. Good luck

Breastfeeding mommy that was diagnosed with tendinitis and a cyst on right wrist.?

Hello, I was just diagnosed with tendintis in my right wrist and he also found a cyst there as well. My dr says that he cannot prescribe anything because I am breastfeeding. Is there anything that I can take or do to help with the pain? Does anyone know anything that I can do such as exercises that would help when my thumb when it locks up and causes me to not be able to use it to its full ability?

Breastfeeding mommy that was diagnosed with tendinitis and a cyst on right wrist.?
wearing wrist braces at night when sleeping and during the day when doing anything repetative will help ease the pain alot, your doc can also give you a cortisone type injection in your wrist, this will not pass into the breastmilk. hope this helps out some and good luck.
Reply:Thumb locking up sounds like trigger finger or trigger thumb...try these carpal tunnel exercises, tendon glides..

How do you know if you have an ovarian cyst?

i am on the pill so my periods are regular but i for the past two cycles i have had sparp pains on the lower right hand side. its not constant but everyday i get a sharp pain here and there and its always in the same place. could i have a cyst?

How do you know if you have an ovarian cyst?
The only way to know for sure would be to tell your doctor of these pains, and he/she will order an ultrasound to take a look and see what's possibly causing the problem.

While it might be a cyst, it might also be endometriosis, or perhaps appendicitis (being on the right side), or maybe just gas. Only a doctor can help to diagnosis...don't assume a diagnosis for yourself
Reply:If you're on your period, how do you know they aren't menstrual cramping...?

The only way you can know for sure is to have your doctor do an ultrasound of your abdomen and look for one. It's possible that you have one, but no one online can tell you.
Reply:Make sure to have a regular pap smear and talk to your OB/GYN about any problems with periods, bad cramping, etc.
Reply:Not likely to be a cyst if you are on the pill since the pill supresses ovulation. May be cramping, but if it's consistently on your lower right side it very well may be appendicitis which should be ruled out immediately! If you get nausea/ vomiting, a fever, or increased pain go to the ER ASAP. If it ruptures you can get a terrible infection called peritonitis.

Hope this helps.
Reply:Cysts hurt constantly, sometime it hurts more than other times, but still always hurts. You could also have something going on with your apendix, its rare, but my sister had that problem, her appendix was infected but it only bothered her during her cycle, she eventually had to get it removed.
