First ultrasound, I got to see the baby, the heartbeat, and a cyst.?

My concern is the cyst. My doctor says not to worry about it, but in the same sentence he said that he is a little concerned over how large it is. He said that the good thing is that it's actually producing progesterone, which helps maintain the pregnancy. I feel the pain from it (didn't realize that's what it was until the ultrasound) but it's not so bad that I can't live with it, just usually hurts when I stretch. I know that it is on the same side that I ovulated from. I had to have 3 ultrasounds prior to being pregnant, as we had artificial insemination, and there was no cyst previously.

Anyone had this happen before and what did they do?

First ultrasound, I got to see the baby, the heartbeat, and a cyst.?
Was it a corpus luteum cyst? This is a cyst on the ovary, where the egg was released. It aids in the pregnancy progressing for the first several weeks. It is normal. Sounds like yours might be a little larger than normal, but it also sounds like he is aware of that and monitoring you. If you used any fertility medications, they could have overstimulated your ovaries and might have played a role in this.

I hope this helps! Congratulations!
Reply:i had one when i first found out i was pregnant (the pain is why i went to the dr in the first place, then found out i was pregnant) The next ultrasound i had it had shrunk tremendously, and then the next one they gave me it was completely gone. Women get cysts all the time and some dont even know it, they come and go. Im sure your dr will do another ultrasound and check that cyst out.
Reply:I had a cyst with my second pregnancy. It was about 5cm and hurt like he**...

The ER Dr. said that it should diminish on it's own..which it did!!

He said that they are really common with pregnancy, that it is caused from the hormones going through so fast...

Don't worry about it! Mine went away.. and I am sure that yours will too...

Congratulations and good luck!!
Reply:I saw a cyst in my first ultrasound, it was large! For my second ultrasound, it was gone!
Reply:I had a large cyst with my third daughter also (about the size of a grapefruit). The second ultrasound it had diminished to about the size of an apple, and by the third ultrasound it was completely gone. My daughter is now almost 5 years old and perfectly fine. I do still have cysts, but never that large, and they come and go. So, don't worry, just make sure your doctor watches it.
