Reply:No i havent had the surgery but good luck and i hope it goes well
Reply:typically is a rather simple procedure with no complications ...... but be aware that there is a small percentage of cysts that return ...
Reply:it won't hurt as I've had many taken off my head, leg and back and it was no big deal.
Reply:Hey I had a cyst on my wrist from playing the violin. I didn't end up with surgury because my mom and I were messing around with something. and she grabbed my wrist, I was wearing a watch that day, and it broke up the cyst. it hurt but when we went to the doctor. he told me they use to hit them with something to brake them up anyways so all was good. I wouldn't worry about it. I had it on my wrist for about 5 or 6 months
Reply:I didn't have any negative side effects other than having to wear a wrist support. it also depends on how the tails, like an octopus has on the end of the cyst. They won't know until they cut you open.
Reply:I had a ganglion cyst on my right wrist removed, twice now and things are fine. If you are getting the hand that you write with operated on, you might want to sign a few blank checks to make bill paying post surgery easier, provided you have a safe place to keep them.
Reply:It's called a ganglion cyst

unfortunately it can sometimes reappear after surgery especially with the repetitive usage a drummer does

Surgical removal of the cyst is needed when the mass is painful, interferes with function (especially when your dominant hand is involved), or causes numbness or tingling of the hand or fingers.

Good Luck
Reply:When I was around 10 years old, I had a ganglion cyst right on the top middle of my left wrist.

The surgery was a simple one-inch incision (in the doctor's office); no pain, no complications. Had a bandage and my wrist in a brace for 3 days. All was cool.

But...the cyst came back two years later, and I had it removed again. Then it came back when I was about 20. When I told one of my co-workers about it, he told me to put my hand, palm-down, on his desk, which I did.

He then grabbed a book and smacked my wrist hard with it. The cyst disappeared and it's been over 30 years...no more cyst.
Reply:Most people do quite well with this procedure...but it's VERY important to follow the directions of after care. I know 2 drummers who have had it done and it went well for both but they followed the orders and didn't rush recovery...best of luck to you
Reply:same day surgery...fairly bread and butter procedure..unless you have nerves wrapped around it or other atypical anatomy
