Okay, well while I was at school one day, I was looking at my wrist for some reason, and I found a smaller than dime sized lump raised slightly above my skin. It looks like a portruding little ball. I've researched it and I've come up with what is called a Ganglion Cyst.
This little thing on my wrist doesn't hurt, but if I touch it, it feels SLIGHTLY tender.
%26amp; If I press down firmly, it feels like there's like a jelly substance inside. Like it's not hard. But it's not really soft.
In the middle.
Please help. I've told my parents and they want to see if it will go away. They're not really freaked out over it-because I'm like a hypochondriac.
So help please. I have a fear it's a tumor or something cancerous.
Please help-I'm worrying if I have a cyst or tumor!!?
I think you are right - it sounds like a ganglion. These are benign swellings that arise from a tendon sheath. They are most common on the hands or wrist and are completely harmless. Usually, people just get used to them, but if they become big or awkward, they can be removed under local anaesthetic.
In the 'old days' the recommended treatment was to hit the lump with the family bible (I'm not making this up!). The blunt force would burst the swelling and the lump would go away.
Reply:wow thats scary, wait a few days and maybe youll get better.
if it doesnt, then go to teh doc EMMEDIATLY. i hope it wont be something like mystery diagnonses.
Reply:It sounds to me like a Ganglion Cyst. I have at least 3 on the inner side of each wrist that pop out periodically. They are nothing to worry about, and if you have no other symptoms, try not to worry about it. If you start to get a fever, or they start to be very painful, or start to grow...then seek medical advice.
