i miscarried and had a transvaginal scan done twice but i think i have a cyst on my left ovary as occasionaly i have a pinching feeling in my left side.right at this moment i have this pinching pain and has lasted since my last peroid has gone which is five weeks ago .i am still waiting on a peroid.last year i missed a peroid for one month and the doctor said it happens sometimes. what i like to know would the transvaginal scan pick up the cysts or has anyone else have had these pains
Is it possible that a transvaginal scan pick up on a ovary cyst?
A Transvaginal ultrasound is the best way to look for ovary cysts.
You should take a home pregnancy test to make sure you are not pregnant, as one of the previous persons who answered mentioned an ectopic pregnancy could be possible. If this is the case, the sooner you catch it the better, it's usually caught on time because of these pains, but if you just let it go, it can cause you serious health problems and could even be fatal if it goes untreated.
Ovulation also causes pinching pains like that, so if you ovulate very late in your cycle it could be this also.
I just re-read your question, if you've had this pain for 5 weeks, I'm guessing it's the cyst on your ovary causing you pain. These can be removed if they are bothersome. Definitley talk to your doctor about it though.
Reply:Yes, trans-vaginal scans are the most common ultrasound scan for ovarian cysts. You may also be experiencing ligament pain instead of a cyst. Try a warm compress or heating pad there - it usually helps with the pain. Some gentle massaging over the area may also improve circulation to the area.
Definitely ask your doctor as sometimes pelvic discomfort like that could be from a ectopic pregnancy (the egg does not travel completely out of the fallopian tubes when fertilized), or could be a sign that the previous miscarriage was not completely cleared.
Reply:I actually just found out that I have cysts on both of my ovaries. They were found during an ultrasound,I have had some tiny pains. If the cysts are small and not painfull they dont do anything ,they say they will most likely go away on their own.I think to help ease your worries make sure you go see your Gyno, get an ultrasound done.Good luck:)
Reply:I had a cyst on my ovary about a few months ago. The doctors found it by giving me an ultra sound. Yes There was a pinching pain and your story sounds very similar to mine. They do most likely go away, which means they will rupture on there own. Try taking motrin or ibuprophen it will help the pain. Best of Luck!!!
Reply:yes it will
