im freaking out they found a cyst on my babies brain, my last pregnancy resulted in a still born, im wondering how common these cysts are and what's the likely hood of it being something serious.
I had my 19 week ultrasound yesterday and they found a cp cyst?
A cp cyst (choroid plexus cyst) is found in 1-2% of normal fetuses. These cysts usually resolve on their own by the 26th week.
I am sure your doctor will keep an eye on it and, if he thinks it warrants further attention, he will do an amniocentesis further into your pregnancy.
Try not to worry about it unless he tells you that you need to be concerned.
Reply:I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING HOPEFULLY EVERYTHING TURNS OK IM HOPIN AND PRAYIN TO GOD THAT ITS SHRINKS THEY HAVE TO DO MORE TEST AND IM SCARE REALLY SCARE Report It
Reply:did they mention to you what that meant? was it something they could fix, or was it even a threat to the baby's well being. I don't have any advise for you, but try to relax (I know that is near impossible) staying calm will help you get throuhg this better. Good luck.
Reply:choroid plexus cysts:The choroid plexus is the tissue within the brain, which produces the cerebrospinal fluid. This fluid fills the normal spaces in the brain (ventricles) and flows around the outside of the brain and spinal cord. Small fluid-filled spaces, called cysts, are seen during obstetrical ultrasound examinations in the choroid plexus in up to 2% of normal pregnancies.
These cysts disappear spontaneously during pregnancy and are, in themselves, of no concern before or after birth. There is no need to re-scan during pregnancy. Children with choroid plexus cysts are developmentally normal and indistinguishable from those in whom no cysts were seen on ultrasound examination during pregnancy
don't stress too much most of these cysts disappear by the 24th week of pregnancy, if there is a absence of other indicators (physical
problems with the heart, brain, limbs, etc.) then the cyst should dissappear.
