How do i know if this is a cyst?

i had this little lump on my face. and my mom said oh dont worry about it its prob just a pimple or something. and she was like it might be a cyst but dont worry unless it grows..well it did. but now we think it might just be a pimple or something. it looks like a small bruise and it hurts to touch. anyone have any answers?

I had one that started as a small blister and turned into what I thought was a boil. It was the size of a dime dark and sore to the touch. After my doctor couldn't identify what it was, I went to a dermatologist and it turned out to be skin cancer. See a dermatologist as soon as possible. It isn't melanoma, but it's still cancer. Get it checked out. I'm not saying your's is, but mine was.
