Anybody have a negative blood test and still been pregnant? or ovarian cyst?

i am 35 days late and am usually very regular. we are trying to concieve our second child, i took a blood test 17 days late, it was negative, i have had no changes in diet or exercise, im in no pain, and its not stress, ive heard an ovarian cyst could cause a late period, are there any other symptoms other than that, and has anyone gotten a negative blood test and actually been pregnant?

Anybody have a negative blood test and still been pregnant? or ovarian cyst?
I've had the ovarian cyst and I swore I was pregnant. My breasts hurt, I even had minor spotting. However, my dr did a blood test and it was negative. He then did an ultrasound which confirmed the cyst. He gave me a progesterone shot to bring on my period. I would think though that you're not pregnant. Another option is that you may not have ovulated at all. To have a period you must ovulate. If you haven't gotten your period by the end of the month, I'd see your doctor again. Good luck!

Is it possible to have a false positive pregnancy test if you have an ovarian cyst?

I took 3 home P.T. and they came out positive. I went to my hospital to do a lab pregnancy test and also positive. But I had a miscarriage in October and found out I have a huge ovarian cyst in left ovary. Do cysts interfere with a pregnancy test???

Is it possible to have a false positive pregnancy test if you have an ovarian cyst?
no I have them as well. start taking some extra naps and your prenatal vitamins honey you are preggo. congrats.
Reply:normally a postive test is not mistaken!! the negative test can be wrong thats why you always wanne try a couple of times!! What did your doctor say???
Reply:I don't think cysts interfere with a pregnancy test. ANyone can get a false positive - cysts or not. In all of the tests you took, did the positive show up during the alloted time? You can get a false positive if the tests sits for too long.

Everyone gets a cyst, called a corpus luteum, on the ovary they ovulated from when they get pregnant. At my first ultrasound my cyst was the size of a golfball. That cyst is what releases the hormones and sustains the pregnancy for the first 8 weeks or so.

Congrats!! I think you're pregnant. If you are still unsure I would call your doctor and see if they can give you a blood test so that you know for sure.

I had surgury about 2 months ago (lost ovary, tube and giant cyst removed...........?

It may not have anything to do with it but - my period this month came with and awful infection (don't know if UTI, bladder or kidney) my cyst was putting pressure on my kidney. I have had infections before (usually when I take antibiotics) but it has not every really been this bad - it seems as if it is bleeding but I can't really tell due to my period - I bought on of those test but only after buying do you find out is does not work when you are on your period and or taking asorbic acids.

I know - go to the doctor - but what do you think it may be.

I had surgury about 2 months ago (lost ovary, tube and giant cyst removed...........?
i think you need to go to the ER, screw the doctor...could be complications from the surgery...
Reply:You should really go to the doctor. Something probably went wrong with your surgery or your body has to cope with the loss.
Reply:yes, you will need goes see your doctor. Tell them that you had a surgery. They will solve the problem when you had a surgery.
Reply:2 months post surgery developing an infection? No, I don't think so,when you had the surgery, the doctor most probably had given you a prophylactic antibiotic, so infection will not set in, the wound by this time must be completely healed. after your discharge, sure, the doctor will give you an appointment after 1 or 2 weeks to check on you. maybe it's only dysmenorrhea.

Is there anything I can do at home to heal a nodular cyst?

I just didn't know if I could promote the healing of a nodular cyst without going to see a doctor. I get one every so often on my face, and they take forever, it seems, to go away, and I usually end up irritating them before they heal, making them stay longer. ...Thank you all for your time and help.

Is there anything I can do at home to heal a nodular cyst?
If you have the problem of nodular cysts occuring again and again, you should do two things.

take treatment of Isiotretinoin.

Treat the acne before it becomes a cyst.

Treatment Regimen For Severe Acne

In severe form of acne, you may have nodules and cysts that are all inflamed. Treating this acne takes more time and patience. Your doctor will treat you with combination therapy to control and cure the acne while trying to take care that minimum scars form. The treatment regimen for severe acne may include physical as well as oral and topical treatments. The options may include- isotretinoin, oral antibiotics, oral contraceptives for female patients, injecting corticosteroid in the lesions and surgical procedure. Let us find out more about these.

Isotretinoin:

Isotretinoin is one of the most potent treatments for severe form of acne which has not responded well to other therapies. Isotretinoin is a retinoid which is a form of vitamin A. Isotretinoin helps treat all the four reasons of acne formation:

a. Excess oil,

b. Clogged pores,

c. Inflammation, and

d. The bacteria p.acnes.

The normal course of isotretinoin is one or two pills a day for up to twenty weeks. Your dermatologist will decide the dose. Don't take Isotretinoin without medical supervision.

Side Effects Of Isotretinoin:

For women, it is very important to be in constant contact with their doctor because isotretinoin can cause damage to development of fetus. It cannot be given during pregnancy and before the treatment begins, all possibilities of pregnancy have to be eliminated. Talk to your doctor in detail about this and follow his/her instructions very strictly. The other side-effects of isotretinoin may include joint pains, headaches, nausea, depression and others. You must not miss your appointment with your doctor while taking isotretinoin.

Oral Antibiotics:

Broad spectrum antibiotics can reduce the bacteria p.acnes substantially. With reduction in the population of this bacterium, inflammation reduces. The antibiotic may include drugs such as - tetracycline, erythromycin, doxycycline, etc.

Oral Contraceptives For Female Patients:

Overactive sebaceous glands produce more sebum and are one of the main causes of acne. Some oral contraceptives can reduce the production of excessive sebum. These drugs should be taken only under medical supervision. Sometimes, you may have to consult the gynaecologist, for which your doctor will advise you.

Injecting Corticosteroid In The Lesion:

In this treatment, a mild steroid is injected in the cyst. The steroid reduces the acne substantially within a few days. This treatment also prevents scarring as it reduces the possibility of bursting of a cyst and dries it totally.

Surgical Procedure:

Your doctor may find it necessary to cut open the acne and drain it. This procedure needs skill and patients should not try this themselves.

My follicle measures at 3 cm there not sure if its a cyst or a follicle does anyone have any idea?

this is my first month on clomid and foud out that i may have a cyst there not really sure untill my next period his this a good sign that clomid is working or bad sign am really confused

My follicle measures at 3 cm there not sure if its a cyst or a follicle does anyone have any idea?
I have talked to others who have done Clomid and had a problem with cysts because of it but I've also met a few women who took Clomid and got pregnant easily. One of the ladies that I know that had done Clomid only did it for a short time and she was able to get pregnant and had a set of twins.

I would recommend getting another opinion, and preferably from someone that does not share the same office of the doctor you currently use to see what they think.

What should I do if I think I might have an ovarian cyst?

I have a really sharp pain in my lower left abdominal area, it started during sex and it's been two days now, and it's still pretty intense. I've just been taking pain killers so I can deal with it, I'm hoping it will pass because I don't have insurance. From eveything I've read and talking to people, I'm thinking it might be an ovarian cyst, has anyone had this? Can it just go away?

What should I do if I think I might have an ovarian cyst?
When I was 20, I had a fairly large ovarian cyst. I figured "no big deal. I'll just get it removed". Well I had the surgery only they didn't remove the cyst. They sewed it open so that it wouldn't occur again. Then, the summer I turned 23, I got really really sick. It lasted off and on for about 6 months or more. People were asking me if I was pregnant and everything. Finally I got so sick that I could barely walk. I thought maybe it was a UTI, as dumb as that sounds. But because I get them frequently, it wouldn't be unheard of. So, my boyfriend at the time took me to the ER and they admitted me for testing. About a week after that, I had an MRI and they told me I had an extremely large mass in my abdomen. They transferred me to a larger hospital and in two days, we found out through surgery, that since I had let the pain go on for so long, that 2 abnormally huge cysts had grown on my ovary and had also grown into my intestinal wall. The surgeon had to remove the cysts as well as one of my ovaries. The kicker of the whole long story is this: two years before my surgery, I had to go in for an MRI and the doctor told me that I had a very tiny cyst on my ovary and that I wasn't to worry because most women do develop cysts during their menstrual cycle that will or may burst either during or after their period.

Ok, I know I have been long winded and I apologize. But if you are that concerned about your pain being an ovarian cyst, then you should really at least try to go to planned parenthood to get it checked out. Most of the time, planned parenthood either accepts donations for their services or they have a sliding scale fee system that goes by your income. There may be someone that they could refer you to that could find out for sure what you are experiencing and the treatment for it.
Reply:Go to your doctor to find out.
Reply:You should see a doctor right away, my girlfriend had one, she had to have surgery because she waited so long and it just got bigger, don't just hope it's nothing and wait, better safe than sorry.
Reply:Ovarian cysts usually go away on their own in a few months. They can either rupture, or spontaneously reabsorb into the body. Although it is recomended that you see a doctor especially if the pain is intense and you are over child bearing age. If the pain is unbearable, and it lasts for more than 3 menstrual cycles, its probably a good idea to see a doctor because in rare causes, cancer can evolve. Some may perform surgery on the cyst, but that depends on the size, your age, symptoms, and your desire to have children. The doctor may also simply monitor the cyst. If the pain isn't unbearable, because you don't have insurance you should probably wait it out a couple months and hope it dissolves on its own. Good luck!
Reply:See a doctor right away. I guess it is possible for one to just go away, but it would be a very bad chance to take. My wife had one removed just yesterday along with the ovary it was on. Thank god not cancerous. Insurance or not, see the doc ! Good luck.
Reply:GO TO YOUR DOC OR ER THEY WILL HELP YOU EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE INS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY
Reply:go to the ER they cannot refuse you

I have stabbing pains and dragging sensation in uterine area, if a cyst burst do i have to go to hospital?

I have been to the doctor and he said just to take a couple of panadol if pains persist get a blood test done which i did today. but i am really worried that i might have to go to hospital in regards to one of my cyst bursting.

I have stabbing pains and dragging sensation in uterine area, if a cyst burst do i have to go to hospital?
If you already have cysts, and you're experiencing any kind of severe pain, I would at least call the doctor, at the VERY least. If this pain is worse than normal, you might want to call the ER and see what they say. Cysts bursting can feel like a sharp, stabbing pain, so it's very important that you seek medical attention if the pain is worse than last time.

Has anyone ever been prescribed pain med for pain from an ovarian cyst?

I have been diagnosed with a functional ovarian cyst and my doc put me back on the birth control to see if that would make it go away. She said to give it 2-3 months. When I go back for my next doc visit in may, if it is still hurting me she will refer me to a doc that can help me further with it. But it's been about 2 1/2 months and I am still feeling it. My question is, can I get a pain med (percocet or lortab) prescribed till we know what is going to be done? Ibuprophen (anti-inflammitory) did nothing.

Has anyone ever been prescribed pain med for pain from an ovarian cyst?
I have Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome, so I totally understand how painful that is. Any way yea you should be able to get some low dose pain med for it. Hopefully the birth control will shrink it, that is what your doctor is trying. but in the mean time you should give her a call and ask for something for the pain. she should be willing to give you enough to help through may, and seeing a specialist if it is needed.

Hope that helps
Reply:I just had mine removed...solved the problem.
Reply:yes they have been known to prescribe pain meds for cysts my sister in law had the same issue and they had her on lortab for it
Reply:i have one also and i was asked to go on birth control and i really don't want to do that so i have been giving some meds to take care of the pain .
Reply:Percocet is very strong. They may try tylenol with codeine.
Reply:Several years ago I had a large one removed, I didn't wait for it to reabsorb, as suggested, because I was afraid it might rupture. So it was removed, but since then, the scar tissue has been painful. They call this adhesions. You may think you can't stand it now, but try the second doctor, see what they suggest. The hormones in birth control may help, but could take the 3 months your doc had said...

Ibu did nothing for my pain, some other anti inflamatory may work better. You don't want to take something which could impair your driving, or any other aspect of your lifestyle.

Good luck, you will make it through this. Keep asking your sisters out here, We need to stick together!!
Reply:I also have a cyst. I noticed mine after waking up one night in severe pain. When I went to the dr. they said I had one that had ruptured but I still had another one on my other ovary. After going back a few months later it is still there, but it's nothing she is worried about. My doctor gave me Tramadol, which is a non-narcotic pain medicine which worked very well. I'm not sure if your dr. will prescribe the others b/c they are highly addictive. Next time you see them ask for the tramadol first and see how that helps. Good luck!

Im going for sugery in 8 days im have two large ovarian cyst one is 17cm and one is 20cm?
i'm curious...how did u know u had cysts? Did you feel a lot of pain? Was ur lower stomach swollen?
Reply:In the hospital where i worked, we have many patients with those case. Are they doing tumor debulking and staging....possible chelation... just be strong and after surgery, try to move around as early as the doctor allows u usually post op day #1 and dont shy away from pain medication, u will not need it...eventually but while u need it make sure u use it because unrelieved post op pains can lead to other post op complication.....unable to move around because of pain...u might have pneumonia.....dvt or adhesions.....take care.....if u are still scared, talk to someone when u get to the hospital, they can allay ur fears......
Reply:First of all do you have any children, yet? If so, the worst that could happen is they can take your whole "Uterus" and you'll just go through early Menopause, depending on if your past that age, or not... If these cysts are on the outside of the tubes, they can very easily remove them, and you could still have kids.. My mom had cervical cancer, after all 6 of us kids were already born, and she was in her 30s... They simply took her uterus out... An easy operation, and she came home, within a week of her surgery, she went through early menopause... and "Loved" that part, with not having periods anymore..... But, with modern science these days, they could very well do orthoscopic surgery, and probably without having to cut, anywhere... Do you have a "support-team" ready to be there for you? I hope so... I'll say a prayer for you, okay.. Just pray for God to make this an easy process, and for nothing to go wrong, and for your ovaries to be just fine afterwards.. And I will too, okay.... Smile, God will be looking after you.. as well as loved ones..... Keep your mind busy, until then..
Reply:I found this website the other night, as I am trying to diagnose my own symptoms I am having right now. http://www.4woman.gov/faq/ovarian_cysts.... Don't worry so much about it. Things will be fine. Just do as your doctor says after you come out of surgery.

What can I do to minimize the size of a facial bump/cyst?

Since my daughter was 4 months old she has had a redish/purplish bump on the left side of her cheek. It's close to her ear by her jawbone. I have taken her to the dermatologist and they didn't do a whole lot with her since she is only 1yr old. Basically they just said that it seems to be a salivary cyst or a angioma. Okay well then they want me to go back to my pediatrician and be referred over to another dr. Hello these are dermatologist that are supposed to look into these things not send me to everyone in town. So anyways it doesn't seem to hurt her or bother her. It's just annoying and everyone always ask if she has a bruise on her face. What can I do to minimize it, make it go away, or etc?

What can I do to minimize the size of a facial bump/cyst?
If it's an angiona which is a blood vessel growth, it is usually taken care of with a laser and if your derm doesn't have a laser in office then he would have to refer you to someone who does. Ask questions before you start to get mad, just because he is a derm doesn't mean that he can do laser surgery or he may want you to see a pediatric surgeon so that your daughter has the best possible treatment. Trust me, every time they refer you out, they are missing out on the money for treatment so if he is referring you out, it means he wants the best treatment for your daughter

I have to have surgery on my wrist. It is for a cyst.?

My doctor has told me that I have to have a surgical procedure done on my wrist. I have had a cyst for a long time and I am a drummer, so my wrist is constantly hurting. I would like ot know if anyone has had any bad outcomes or negative side affects from this surgery. Please and thank U!

I work in a hospital -- you are going to be JUST FINE.....as long as you have a good doctor. Don't worry!!! We have 91 year old patients getting heart surgery (yeah, where the rib cages are pulled open first) and THEY LIVE through it and get on with their lives -- you'll be just fine :)
Reply:It's a fairly simple surgery with virtually no side effects. Nothing to worry about. They'll give you yummy pain meds :]
Reply:the surgery is for the cyst and is almost 100% effective. rarely does anything serious occur from the surgery
Reply:I assume it's a ganglion cyst. I had one on the top of my right wrist from typing so much. I've had absolutely no problems and the pain went away immediately.
Reply:I had a cyst on my wrist quite a few years ago. The surgery was no big deal (but it is a big deal if you are the one being cut on)....They have such good techniques now that you will be in and out before you know it. But, recovery will take several weeks I don't care what they tell you. After the first few days you can do for yourself pretty well. Also, I would be sure to have a really good hand specialist. You don't want a surgeon who doesn't do this particular surgery all the time. God bless. :)
Reply:My son had a cyst/tumor in his wrist also- the doc said that the surgery would take it out and the follow up would be 2 years to make sure it did not form again- 2 years has past and he is great! has a 2 inch scar along the wrist but that is all that is left! The doc said that it was a benign cyst/tumor and when he fell and aggravated it caused it to become sore and swell. Wish you the best!

Reply:No i havent had the surgery but good luck and i hope it goes well
Reply:typically is a rather simple procedure with no complications ...... but be aware that there is a small percentage of cysts that return ...
Reply:it won't hurt as I've had many taken off my head, leg and back and it was no big deal.
Reply:Hey I had a cyst on my wrist from playing the violin. I didn't end up with surgury because my mom and I were messing around with something. and she grabbed my wrist, I was wearing a watch that day, and it broke up the cyst. it hurt but when we went to the doctor. he told me they use to hit them with something to brake them up anyways so all was good. I wouldn't worry about it. I had it on my wrist for about 5 or 6 months
Reply:I didn't have any negative side effects other than having to wear a wrist support. it also depends on how the tails, like an octopus has on the end of the cyst. They won't know until they cut you open.
Reply:I had a ganglion cyst on my right wrist removed, twice now and things are fine. If you are getting the hand that you write with operated on, you might want to sign a few blank checks to make bill paying post surgery easier, provided you have a safe place to keep them.
Reply:It's called a ganglion cyst

unfortunately it can sometimes reappear after surgery especially with the repetitive usage a drummer does

Surgical removal of the cyst is needed when the mass is painful, interferes with function (especially when your dominant hand is involved), or causes numbness or tingling of the hand or fingers.

Good Luck
Reply:When I was around 10 years old, I had a ganglion cyst right on the top middle of my left wrist.

The surgery was a simple one-inch incision (in the doctor's office); no pain, no complications. Had a bandage and my wrist in a brace for 3 days. All was cool.

But...the cyst came back two years later, and I had it removed again. Then it came back when I was about 20. When I told one of my co-workers about it, he told me to put my hand, palm-down, on his desk, which I did.

He then grabbed a book and smacked my wrist hard with it. The cyst disappeared and it's been over 30 years...no more cyst.
Reply:Most people do quite well with this procedure...but it's VERY important to follow the directions of after care. I know 2 drummers who have had it done and it went well for both but they followed the orders and didn't rush recovery...best of luck to you
Reply:same day surgery...fairly bread and butter procedure..unless you have nerves wrapped around it or other atypical anatomy

Tomorrow I'm going to the doctors to find out about a cyst on my breast, what should I expect?

I have an appointment tomorrow to check on a cyst that I have behind my nipple on my breast. What should I expect?

Tomorrow I'm going to the doctors to find out about a cyst on my breast, what should I expect?
it depends on your age.

Younger females in their twenties often present with cysts in their breasts that are painfull.

You can expect the dr to take a proper history, examine the breast and that he might stick a needle into it to do cytological testing.
Reply:Expect the worse when it comes to doctors, they are money hungry.

Its best u put castor oil or olive oil on the breast, it could be

nothing.

Toothpaste on bumps and lumps knock em down overnite.

Always get a second opinion if the doc wants to cut u.

Remember doctors are after money more than makin u well.
Reply:DEFINETLY INSIST ON FURTHER TESTING....BIOPSY, MAMOMMOGRAM ETC... DON'T LET THE DOCTOR TELL YOU WHAT TO EXPECT.INSIST ON TAKING CARE OF YOUR BODY.

IT COULD BE A FIBER CYST, OR CHANGES, BUT ANY LUMP NEED TO BE LOOKED AT

AND NOT TO SCARE YOU BUT IT COULD BE A CANCER TUMOR THATS WHY TO YOU NEED TO MONITOR IT AND EITHER WAY THEY WILL GIVE YOU AN OPTION TO GET A BIOPSY AND HAVE IT REMOVED.....FOLLOW UP AND GET IT REMOVED A.S.A.P.
Reply:As for the cyst - you are likely pretty scared. You can't help it - it's ok. Cysts/fybroids are common, and are not cancerous. However, they can be a precursor to cancer cells down the road. Something to watch, but likely nothing to lose sleep over.

First, ask any question that you don't know the answer to. Even now - write down your questions and bring them with you.

If you don't get an answer you understand, ask again

If you don't get an answer to the question at all, get a second doctor to review any tests.

Do NOT leave the office without a plan. A follow up, or a next action.

Do NOT trust the Doc to make decisions for you. You need to do what is best for you. Your Doc may be wonderful, but you have to live with the questions, decisions, whatever. The doc doesn't.

IF it doesn't make sense, or feel right to you - then it isn't. My best advice is to trust yourself. You know your body best.

I have a fibroid in uterus, and my left ovary is removed due to ovarian cyst. Can I conceive & get pregnant?

I am married. I have four daughters. Now that I want to take a chance again. two of my elder daughters were born when I had the overian cyst (first in Nov'97 and other in feb'99) and that after the removal of cyst (it was removed in Apr'99)I have given birth to my twin daughters in July 2001.

I have a fibroid in uterus, and my left ovary is removed due to ovarian cyst. Can I conceive %26amp; get pregnant?
My wife had multiple uterine fibroids prior to her getting pregnant with twins. So, obviously, we were able to conceive and get quite pregnant. The OB kept an eye on the fibroids since they were getting extra blood during the pregnancy and did grow quite large. There was concern that they could crowd the girls, cause issues with the uterine walls, complicate delivery by getting in the way, etc.

As it turns out, they never grew too big .. the largest was about the size of an orange, I think, which is much smaller than the OB said they could grow.

Since the girls were born, about 4 years ago, the fibroids never did return to their pre-pregnancy size. My wife's uterus stayed the size of a 3-month pregnancy and the fibroids began to calcify and become very sensitve and she had a hysterectomy recently to resolve those issues.
Reply:I'm no professional but I think one ovary is enough to conceive, but i'm not sure about the fibroid. You might want to ask a doctor.
Reply:sure as long as the right ovary is able to produce eggs that will travle along the fallopian tube to the uterus.implantation of the fretilised egg may take place on various parts of the uterus, so u cl get pregnant but might wana watch the fibroid in the uterus since it ld affect the implanted blastocysts develpment into a baby by compression somehow. pls check with a qualified doc though to verify.
Reply:It is possible to conceive, but you need to seek a good medical assessment due to a dual problem. A uterine fibroid may or may not cause problems for conception. However, if the fibroid is large enough it could weaken the uternine wall and cause serious problems on a not C section delivery. Also it could prevent conception if it blocks ovualtion or sperm. The fact of one ovary is not a problem provided the remaining ovary is healthy and no other problems are present.

What is the diff btw the pain in the colon and ovarian cyst? Ive had cancer in the past and col pain same?

I had non-hodgkins lymphoma in my colon and it spread to my liver and it was the agressive kind and now I'm in remission for three yrs. I also have an ovarian cyst which is the size of a golf ball or more from my x-ray about a year ago and I can feel it. My oncologist sent me to the obgyn but I've lost my insurance, so for almost a year now, I haven't been seen. I'm scared but with no insurance unless you go to the hospital with screaming pain they won't see you.

cysts are tricky little buggers

the truth is, if they didnt get every last drop of the fluid it will spread and cause more.

i've suffered from cysts my whole life but thankfully they are small.

i have one on my wrist that comes and goes...if i massage it for about fifteen minutes a day it gets smaller

i have one on my jaw that, wow is actually so small i can barely feel it now, but usually gets inflamed when i'm sick...

and the trickiest ones are on my ear lobes. I used to get them and try to squeeze until they popped but that just emflamed my earlobe and cause almost 7 more. but i started using a q-tip and rubbing alchohol everyday where the cysts where...the ones that were close to the skin went away and i'm really not sure what happened but the deeper ones went away too....

but if its infected badly you need to go to the doctor and at least get antibiotics
Reply:you might want to go back to the doctor and make sure the cyst hasn't returned. I had one removed on my neck and the doctor said if they didn't get it all, it could return.

Has anyone been told by their OB that their baby has a "cyst" on their heart while pregnant?

I just got back from my OB appointment and was told that my baby has a cyst on his heart. I have to go for another ultrasound, and they said it could be linked to Down-syndrome...I am SO worried, has anyone had this before and turned out to be nothing?? My baby apparantly had some on his brain as well (but by the second ultrasound they were gone) now they are just concerned about the one on his heart.... thanks in advance for your advice/answers.

Has anyone been told by their OB that their baby has a "cyst" on their heart while pregnant?
My friends friend, came in town and for a long time was told that her son was going to be down syndrome and came out to be completely fine... without any syndrome/disorder... well if you are older... over 30 you have approximately 1 in 120 chances of having a down syndrome child.

I would like input from someone who suffers from a polinidal cyst.?

I have a polinidal cyst and have had it lanced 1 time and have had numerous flare ups. Outside of antibiotics and warm sits baths, can anyone tell me something else that stop the flare ups or at least releave them.

I would like input from someone who suffers from a polinidal cyst.?
I had a polinidal cyst and draining it did not help. The only relief was getting it removed. I recommend you see a surgeon and go over the possibilities of having it removed. Believe me you will be happy afterwards.
Reply:I am an operating room nurse and also an ex wound management consultant so I used to see heaps of these.

Usually they are surgically debrided (under anaesthetic the whole area is opened up, washed out and either left to slowly heal itself closed or sewn up) Is this what you mean by lancing?

To have is simply lanced (opened up at the doc surgery) without really good scraping out and washing out will not generally be enough to stop it recurring.

They do have a reasonable recurrence rate.

The gold standard in wound management is to use silver impregnated packing dressings to the area after it has been lanced. Silver does not allow bugs and bacteria to grow and thus helps to clean out the area while it heals. It is the bacteria and bugs in the area that causes the flare ups.

If I had one I would want a large opening up, clean out and scrape and then silver dressings on the area. I would also want to use antibiotics while it was healing

Check out this site: it is loads of info.

Reply:If lancing once or twice doesn't cure it, then you may be a candidate to have it removed surgically. It must be able to drain completely or it will return. I would think moist heat is the most comforting thing, but heat may also make it swell. You need to talk to your doctor about it. I know how painful (and also embarrassing) they can be. I hope you have relief soon.

I feel pain under my breast and a feel of a cyst or something?

i am not sure what it is under my breast but it is painful and i feel something could be a cyst but i don't know for sure.

I feel pain under my breast and a feel of a cyst or something?
go to the doctor quick for a checkup...it might be that time of the month and this could be a sign of something...so make an appointment
Reply:go to your doctor. you might have breast cancer already. but don't be afraid it may be benile meaning it's harmless, but you must have it checked before the condition worsens and spreads.
Reply:Go to the doctor ASAP! Could be nothing, could be breast cancer. Only a doctor will be able to tell you for sure.

Good luck!
Reply:How old are you?

If your about 11-13 its a breast bump and you've just started puberty

if your alot older than that you should see a doctor it could be breast cancer, [[tumor]]
Reply:i get things like this and my dermatologist says they are boils. he gives me oral antibiotics and a topical antibiotic. i don't know if you have the same thing, but they can be extremely painful....i'd suggest going to a doctor because i have also had cysts. the doctor will take a biopsy to find out if it is benign or not. good luck.

Help...................help...... need some info frm gyn.......i have a cyst in my ovary????
Sounds like PCOS, which many many different women have. I do. There are medications that will stimulate ovulation. It is not impossible to get pregnant, I am now. You need to speak with your doctor more about this.
Reply:well some cysts dissolve on their own, some have to be removed, remember you have two ovaries are they both affected? they can remove the cysts without removing the ovary, mine was so big (softball)and they took the whole ovary , but I was done having children, I am actually going back today because I have one on my other ovary that is causing severe pain. but in my case they can take everything out! I am done with those parts LOL! but when you are young they will do everything in their power to preserve your fertility. and there are a lot of women that cysts and get pregnant.
Reply:I ended up in the emergency room at age 17 for gallstones. The doc diagnosed me with an appendicitis and I told him he was wrong so they gave me an ultrasound. When he came back to tell me I had gallstones, he told me they had also found a cyst on my right ovary. He said it was no big deal but it still scared me. So I did some research. There are different types of ovarian cysts so I can't help you unless you give me the kind you have. But if you know what type you have, you can read up on it. Here are some links for you.

Reply:Abnormal bleeding and irregular periods can also be caused by an ovarian cyst. This is a scary diagnosis, but ovarian cysts are very common and are not cancerous conditions. Just like a breast cyst, which is a fluid-filled lump, these cysts form on the ovary. Often, ovarian cysts don't even require surgery and just need to be monitored. An ultrasound can tell your doctor whether the cysts are benign.

Is it okay to go on roller coasters with an ovarian cyst?

just to let people know,Ive already made an appointment for the cyst so dont think im letting it sit there =/

Is it okay to go on roller coasters with an ovarian cyst?
I would say it would be OK but since your not sure you should ask your Doctor.
Reply:yeah, its not like a pregnancy...it won't hurt it, or cause more pain to you, if thats what your worried about. Cysts are generally fluid filled sacs, so they will move with your body, not against it. Good luck...
Reply:I wouldn't recommend it. I have an ovarian cyst and find that any hard and sudden lunges or stops like on a roller coaster tend to make me sore. Ask your doctor first and see what they say.
Reply:are you serious? come on.
Reply:Is it okay, or is it life threatening? It is okay and it isn't life threatening. You might feel tenderness in that area afterward but it won't make the cyst any worse. I'm glad you're getting something done about it, though. Mine ended up being quite serious but not because of riding rollercoasters.

Use common sense and be aware of whether or not it is painful for you and take care of yourself accordingly.

My 16 month old son might need surgery to remove a cyst?

my son was born with a lump on the top of his head where the soft spot is. his first doctor said it was fine. we had xrays done. they said it would be gonje by the time he turned 1 yr old. my son is now 16 months old. the bump is still there! i started taking him to a new doctor and they told me last night at the appoinment that it might be a cyst and have to have surgery to be removed. this could have all been done 12 months ago in my opinion! now at 16 months he might have to have surgery. do you think i could sue his old doctor for mis diagnosing him? if so where do i start?

My 16 month old son might need surgery to remove a cyst?
There is no way you would win..It did not cause permanent damage..That is what the courts would look at...My son had a cranio condition that his doc missed..It was not until I insisted on seeing a neurologist that something got done about it..He too needed surgery...But, the damage was already there, they did not cause it, and they are human..They had never heard of my son's condition..How can I sue over a human error when it did nothing to worsen the condition? That's my .02

Okay..Let's talk damage...My son inhaled a sunflower seed..I took him to the ER and told them that..They listened, told me he sounded good, and sent me home.Did they do an xray? Nope.....A few days later, he had gotten so much worse, I took him to another doc..At this point, his lung was collapsed, and he had pneumonia..Tell me I could not have sued this doc? He almost killed my son because he would not listen to me..Did I sue?? No..But, I did let his insurance company pay for EVERYTHING! This is life threathening...A cyst is just that...Yes, it could have burst..Yes, it would have been an owie...But, it would probably not have killed him...I am glad you are taking your anger out somewhere...Just make sure it's not misdirected.,
Reply:if this cyst hasn't caused your son any harm there is no case for you to sue them with. His old doc didn't do a good, thorough job but he didn't harm your son. And, I wouldn't be sueing anyway. Too many people sue for a little extra money just because someone made a mistake. Imagine if you were the one in his shoes. There is always that chance that you could make that mistake too because of never seeing it before. Doctors see new things everyday and don't always know what to do.
Reply:no, u should not sue the dr.

sometimes things are not what they appear. maybe the dr. didn't want to rush your child into unnessary surgery or tests.

alot of dr. practice the wait and watch game.
Reply:Unless it posed some health problem that the first doctor overlooked...I doubt it. One thing that might put your mind at ease is the fact that kids seem to bounce back much faster than adults do from this type of situation. Where an adult would be laid up in bed for weeks....your son will probably be up and raring to go after just a few days. Nothing ever keeps them down for long. And even at 16 months, this experience is going to fade and be no more than a dim memory later in life.
Reply:no it could not have been done 12 months ago

one of my children had it too the doctors waited until she was 18 months old

hers was on the right side of her head( she was also paralyzed on the right side) they had to wait until she was strong enough the with stand the anesthesia

the only reason she was paralyzed was because the position of the cyst caused it to press slightly on the nerves

shes fine now.

most times cyst will go away on there own

no it wasn't a mis diagnosis

your just stressing

really would you have prefered to see your baby under go elective surgery as a new born??????

and yes it is elective

also get another opinion

you've had two with different opinions get a third a decide from there.
Reply:I woudn't want to be the doctor who went through many years of school and work, to become a doctor to be able to save people who came to me, only to be sued by them as soon as they saw an open window to do so.

All this sueing hurts all of us in the long run when we wipe out hospitals and doctors and one day people just find a profession without the long hours, constant stress and sueing. Perhaps he did misdiagnos your son, but is it really something you need to sue for? There are other things to do and places to make reports if you want someone to be aware. You can also tell the doctor how you feel.

My son was born 3 months early. I went over and over to my doctor that something wasn't right and I was bleeding and leaking my water. All he ever did if anything at all was feel my uterous and say I ws still pregnant. I could have sued and I'm sure won a settlement, my son still has breathing problems due to his lungs not being developed and had this doctor examined me more and went by my symtoms he would of seen I had placenta previa. Others were sueing the doctor so I put my focus on my son.

A few years ago, my oldest son was badly hurt in a football game. I realized it first by the way he looked. I couldnt get anyone to listen to me. He ended up being life flighted that night. He had bleeding on his brain and a pretty good concusion. He lost vision and responsiveness before it was over. The sports trainer didn't realize he was as hurt as he was although I could see he was. I had to take him to the hospital ER myself. That trainer was reemed up and down not long after, but I didn't sue. I know my son got worse before I got to the hospital even though I don't think the trainer took it serious enough. I bet he does the next time. I could tell by his face at the ER he really didnt realize and it scared him pretty good when he saw my son at that point and knew he had been wrong. My son spent 3 days in a trauma unit but is fine now and I am happy for that.

Where you start is making sure its just cause and a suitable thing to solve your issue. Check this doctors history, does he often make mistakes?? You also had opportunity to take him elsewhere for a second opinion months ago. It may be alot of mumbo jumbo and more money out than in going this route. Sueing isn't always the best or right answer, it just seems to be the most common these days.

Which of these is the best way to treat a follicular cyst?

Asprin paste, tea tree oil or warm sea salt soaks?

Which of these is the best way to treat a follicular cyst?
I always go for heat treatment for cysts, either soak the area witht he cyst or use a hot compress. Try applying the tea tree oil afterwards. I'm not familiar with using an aspirin paste so no opinion there.

Does anyone know of a treatment other than surgery for a cyst on the kidney?

The cyst is 12mm in diameter and 1mm in length. Please help!!!

Does anyone know of a treatment other than surgery for a cyst on the kidney?
I'm a nurse. Dear it's best to have it removed. You will be OK. Make sure you ask lots of questions so that you fully understand the procedure. Don't worry everything will be alright
Reply:Unfortunately, I won't be seeing my English student who happens to be a kidney specialist here in South Korea for another week but try looking up info on anti-inflammatory foods and alkaline foods.

Sugar is like poison and any other carcinogenic foods should be avoided. My wife has had an ovary removed due to a cyst and the remaining one had also developed a cyst but we're managing it through diet. Low carb/starchy foods... minimal sugar (zero is best) and lotsa veggies and fish.

Basically, a lifestyle change. Not easy but if you're serious and don't want to be sick or fat or in surgery... it's worth it, ain't it?

How long does it take to recover after laparoscopic surgery to remove an ovarian cyst?

My husband and I had been trying to concieve for about a year when I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst. Since we had gone through other fertility testing with no clear indication for our infertility, my Dr. thought it would be best to remove the cyst surgically since there was a possiblity it was causing our problems getting pregnant. My surgery is in 1 week and I was wondering how long it will take to recover afterwards. When can I expect to get a normal period again and how long afterwards can my husband and I start trying to concieve again?

How long does it take to recover after laparoscopic surgery to remove an ovarian cyst?
A week at most. There are usually only 2 incisions, 1/2 inch each. There's no much pain involved at all. The worst part is that they can't get all of the gas out of you so every time you sit up, you get these sharp pains in your shoulders. It HURTS - but there's hardly any pain from the incisions themselves after day #1. The best thing for the gas pains is to try to be upright as much as possible, it hurts to the point where you're crying, but the more you move around, the quicker it goes away.

My first laparoscopy I laid down for a week and still have problems with the gas pains. My second one, I was moving around much more and after 3 days it was gone.

You'll probably want to wait a week before trying again. The surgery will likely cause you to miss your period, just an FYI. The surgery should help you become much more fertile right afterwards.
Reply:I had a diagnostic laparoscopy last Thursday and to be honest, i was quite unprepared for how i felt. I wasn't worried about it and thought it would be easy, but i had a lot of pain - probably caused by the gas - i've got IBS as well, so it was pretty severe. I didn't start feeling normal until Sunday and i still don't feel 100% yet. The procedure itself isn't anything to worry about, but just don't expect a walk in the park - be prepared because any procedure under general anaesthetic can make you feel poorly. I felt really stupid because everyone else seemed fine, but listen to your body and give yourself a week to recover fully. Good look with trying to get pregnant :0)

Is it normal for your hand to be numb after ganglion cyst surgery?

i have surgery on wed for a ganglion cyst. the top of my ahnd and thumb and index finger are numb is this normal after surgery? will it go away andy answers will help thanks

Is it normal for your hand to be numb after ganglion cyst surgery?
Usually there is some numbness after having a ganglion cyst removed. It can be caused by the swelling pushing against a nerve or the cyst was very close to the nerve. It should go away own it's own; give it a couple of weeks. Mention it to your doctor when you have the sutures removed. I hope this helps.
Reply:It's not unusual. When you go for follow up with your doctor, just mention it. The cyst was very close to the nerve and there's a little internal swelling after the surgery. That's why you have a little numbness. Once it starts healing, you should see that all go away.
Reply:I wouldn't ask anyone but your doctor don't believe any of the snotty kids here especially
Reply:Had one removed from my wrist. No effects on the feeling in my hand. It did before I had it removed. Depends on the nerves and if they are connected through it. Good idea to get it removed. Don't worry. Very common sugery and doc's know what they are doing!

Is it ok to get pregnant when you have Bartholin grand cyst?

I have a Bartholin grand cyst. It is not infected and does not bother me. Will it affect the baby in any way if I get pregnant with it or should I see the doctor first and get it drained?

Is it ok to get pregnant when you have Bartholin grand cyst?
I also have that condition. I guess you can, there's no reason to not get pregnant, and it won't affect your baby.

If it's not infected then leave it alone. If it does get infected then go see the doctor.

I've known a woman who got a Bartholin abscess while pregnant, but everything turned out fine.

Scars are cool, they make people look more interesting. Try some bio-oil or similar first, but if you're sure that's what you want there are some sites for UK, most of the clinics seem to be in London:

How long does it take to get rid of an acne cyst through accutane?

Also, what causes acne cyst?

How long does it take to get rid of an acne cyst through accutane?
Accutane has different results for different people. Personally I found that while on Accutane my cysts were slower to heal and scared more easily. After 2 courses of accutane I still suffer from cystic acne- I guess I was one of the unlucky ones.

Cystic acne is usually hormonal and starts deep down in the skin, which is what makes it so difficult to treat.

I highly recommend a site called www.acne.org. It is filled with information on acne and message boards. Some contributors to the site keep logs and pictures of their Accutane course progress.

Cortisone shot for an iflamed blemish, but it's not a cyst?

So, I screwed up... I squeezed and severely made my pimple much much worse. I'm in a wedding in 3 DAYS. It's gross and crusty now. PLEASE PLEASE answer this for me... I'm strongly considering visiting my derm for a cortisone shot... will this do anything for it even though its not a true cyst, just a swollen inflamed spot? What can I do???? This sucks hardcore, I really really was looking foward to new years, my skin has been so great until this. Help?!? I need to know before 8 am tomorrow when I would make the call!

Cortisone shot for an iflamed blemish, but it's not a cyst?
Call the derm!
Reply:ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww sicko
Reply:I would call your doctor/dermatologist..like you said..in the morning to see what he or she says regarding your blemish. In the meantime, try applying saline solution on a cotton call to the zit. The salt will act like a poultice to draw out the infection and dirt.
Reply:get some topical cortizone from the dollar store and rubb it on it could be a ferincle they are caused by staph like from the shower stall or contact if so buy some boil ease from the druggist show them it and ask its behind the counter there buy some gause and cover it and the boil ease will drw it up and you can pop it and it will heal
Reply:Just leave it alone!

You should get it checked out before you declare it a cyst. It could be that you have a lot of stress in your neck and could've had a muscle spasm, resulting in a knot. If you had rubbed it and it went away slightly, maybe you should go get a massage.

What type of surgical procedure is performed to remove a bronchogenic cyst?

I have a 3.6 centimeter cyst located behind my heart, and next to my Aorta. I am trying to get as much information on the surgical procedures that could be used, since it is taking forever for my Doctor to get me an appointment to meet with a surgeon. I am curious to know if they will have to crack my ribs open or not, and/or if it will possibly involve a lobectomy, and partial removal of my lung, even though it is off f my bronchial tube. Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

What type of surgical procedure is performed to remove a bronchogenic cyst?
It depends on specifically where the cyst is located. There are some different procedures that might be used.

Mediastinoscopy: a lighted scope is inserted at the base of the neck in the sternal notch, and under the breastbone. Only small things can be done this way - your cyst might be too big for that.

Thoracoscopy: a scope again, through small incisions between the ribs. Many procedures, including lobectomies, can be done this way.

Thoracotomy: open procedure. Depending on the location of the cyst, this might be necessary. This is the rib-cracking surgery and has a much longer recovery time. Either of the first two procedures may need to be converted to this one if there is a problem (bleeding, can't reach the cyst, etc.)

You'll need to get the details from your surgeon. ASK QUESTIONS! Not all thoracic surgeons have the best personalities, just to warn you in advance.

Good luck to you!

Can anyone please help me? I need opinions is it a cyst?
Wow, you have to do a blood test and a ultra sound. Urine Test are not accurate. Go to the doctor again and request this. Good Luck.
Reply:if you dont think you are pregnant

you could possibly have a fibroid tumor,

they are non-malignant, but they do

cause severe pain, and frequent urination

you could also have a bladder infection

My hand didn't feel/get numb after this surgery. . . .
Reply:I think you should ask that doctor

GOOD LUCK!!!!
Reply:Call the office of the doctor who did the surgery. Call right away. It might be normal or it might be serious, but you need to find out for sure.
Reply:yes, mine was for atleast a week after surgery.

Reply:ooo I don't know, I'd worry any time something goes numb cause it's not getting enough blood to that area.
Reply:I think you should ask the doctor, but I think it is probably OK because you might have some nerve irritation from the surgery and will go away.
Reply:You must call the surgeon's office and ask if it's normal. There's nobody on here capable of taking your very prized hand in their "hands" to answer that question. Here's some sites about your surgery, but call your specialist immediately.

I dont want surgery but I have a 5cm ovarian simple cyst, any alternatives for it?

I have a 5cm simple cyst on my ovaries and it causes sharp pains from time to time. It has caused me to have 2 periods in 1 month and bleed heavily. MY Dr put me on birth control, does this shrink it or will it dissolve? What happens if it ruptures, do I just take a bunch of Advil and call my Dr the next morning? Anyone have this before?

I dont want surgery but I have a 5cm ovarian simple cyst, any alternatives for it?
I know of someone who had a simple cyst (I assume you are talking about a fluid filled type cyst) which ruptured. It was very painful and she was hospitalised but afterwards was okay again without surgery or other effects. The birth control may see the cyst reduce itself naturally although I would be worried about the pains you are getting. If it ruptures it is very painful. I have had a dermoid cyst rupture and it was extremely painful. No amount of advil did a thing to reduce the pain. A dermoid cyst is different though in that it won't reduce itself and has to be removed via surgery. If you get any severe pain I would not hesitate to call an ambulance.
Reply:Take your doctor's advice. I had one burst when I was 8 months pregnant, and thought I was going to die. And yes, the pill may indeed shrink the cyst, You may be able to find a doctor who will do a needle biopsy and just aspirate the thing, if its fluid filled. Look for one who does mastectomies and lumpectomies. They are the ones who do the needle biopsies and aspirations on breast cycts
Reply:They're quiet common. They usually go away in a month or two. If they don't, surgery is required and it's not bad.
Reply:You DO NOT want to experience this thing rupturing. You wanna talk about pain.... Advil will never even begin to phase what you will feel if it ruptures.

I need help...do you have an experience with a pilonidal cyst?

a week ago i had surgery to have a pilonidal cyst removed...its a pretty big hole....on wednesday i had to go back to the doctor b/c of excruciating pain..it ended up being infected and they gave me antibiotics....i know it will take a while to heal, but now its bleeding a lot...too much info, but i've soaked through several gauze pads today...i'm debating on whether to go to the emergency room tomorrow....

does anybody have any suggestions, experiences or stories about this? i'm not sure what is normal or not...thanks

I need help...do you have an experience with a pilonidal cyst?
get you **** to the er now!!!!!! you can lose too much blood for a simple surgey and can be in serious trouble! i have seen kids come in with a tonsilectomy bleed and end up in icu. you really should not be bleeding much, if at all, after a week...

How dangerous is it for my pig to have a large cyst renoved, she is 5 yrs. old?

my abby has a large cyst growing on the inside of her left hind leg and Im wondering if it is removed of how she will do. Im wondering if someone has been thru that?

How dangerous is it for my pig to have a large cyst renoved, she is 5 yrs. old?
I have asked my friend Chet, who is an expert on pig health, and he says the cyst can be removed by surgery.

Chet is a butchers apprentice and deals with pigs all the time. When he butchers them, it is just like surgery but they are already dead, he says.

He has butchered some with cysts the size of fists, so he ought to know. You cant eat the cyst, but the rest of the meat looks the same, cyst or no cyst, so who cares, right?

As for covering up the hole left by surgery, here is a top tip.

My pet vietnamese pot bellied pig, Gordon, suffered extensive burns after an accident with a barbeque.

Chet and I sewed on a skin graft of finest quality bacon.

Dont use the smoked bacon, unless you want to risk giving Chet smoking related illnesses later in life.

Before cutting the pig open, make sure he is tied down with a pillow in his mouth.

Make sure you do all this humanely, like I set out.

What's the best way to get rid of a cyst on your dog's back...???

my dog has a cyst on his back... the vet says that it will clear up in time... but it's so gross... is there anything i can do to get rid of it sooner...???

What's the best way to get rid of a cyst on your dog's back...???
Put Peroxide on it, several times a day, but after the third day, stop using it, and see if that helps.

I'm surprised the Vet didn't prescribe Antibiotics for your pet!
Reply:I did some reading on Cyst, evidently Antibiotics aren't given, since Cyst are not an infection, but a growth, so your Vet was correct, and surgically removing them, is the only way to keep them from coming back. Thanks and I hope your dog is feeling better. Report It

Reply:Peroxide only lengthens the time of healing..it should really only be used when there's and infection, which a cyst is not, and to clean a wound, which a cyst is not.....so good luck with prolonging your dogs cyst! Report It

Reply:Diluted Hydrogen Peroxide is used to bleach human hair, hence the phrases peroxide blonde and bottle blonde. It whitens skeletons that are to be put on display. Hyd. Per. is used medically for cleaning wounds, removing dead tissue, or as an oral debriding agent. Report It

Reply:take him to the vet, they will remove it
Reply:Hmmm, you sure its the dogs back? Well, I had one on my backside and got anti-biotics so maybe a course will help your dog.
Reply:My doggie had one once and we wound up taking him back to the vet and having it drained. You might seek out a second opinion.

Also, you do want to get it removed if it doesn't go away over a period of time because they DO hurt your dog whether your dog acts like they're hurting him or not. Any human that has ever had a cyst can testify as to how painful they are.
Reply:DON"T do it yourself.

my dog has them too and as annoying as they can be to touch/look at, i have to just let them be....as she has gotten older she has developed a few more.....they're not going away. as long as they don't get worse or start to bleed or become infected theres really nothing you can do. technically you CAN get them removed, but why spend hundreds of dollars, when they aren't hurting your dog.

Reply:relax, thingds should be fine
Reply:no it wont stop you from having kids. i had one. they come right before your period and then when your period comes on, they burst and go away. they will come and go. sometimes they disappear for years. just get your weight down if you are overweight. get plenty of exercise. being overweight can contribute to it but not always. becareful that you limit your fatty foods. your diet has a great deal to do with it.

How long does the pain last from a burst ovarian cyst?

I had a dull side ache for about a week and then it got really bad last night. This morning when I woke up the pain was almost completely gone but as the day has wore on I've gotten a bit of a dull ache back. Does this sound consistent with a burst ovarian cyst? If it does, how long is this dull pain going to last? I don't have any other symptoms. No fever, nausea, vomiting, etc etc

How long does the pain last from a burst ovarian cyst?
I have had 5 surgeries for cysts. 2 of them ruptured. The pain was unbearable. I had to have emergency surgery. You can have small ones that rupture (most women have cysts in their lifetime). I would not think that you would still have pain though. See your doc and get an ultrasound. That's the best way to tell. I didn't have fever, nausea or anything else either. The ones I had that ruptured were really big though.
Reply:go to your doctor

how do you know you have a ovarian cyst?
Reply:If I were you check your doctor about this. Every person difference when they had a pain their burst overian cyst. Your doctor will tell you exact about burst overian cyst.

When at first pregant do all women have a small cyst?

I went to the hosptial yesterday and they said i have a small cyst on my right ovary does it mean i could be pregant if i am i would only be a few days

When at first pregant do all women have a small cyst?
No it doesn't mean you are pregnant. When you ovulate you usually get new cyst, when they burst it hurts like crazy. If you think you are pregnant take a pregnancy test or have your doctor give you a blood test to find out for sure. I have had a partial hysterectomy because of all the problems I have had, I still have my right ovary, which is covered by cyst. The doctor put me on birth control to try to make them shrink or fade away. The name for that is called Poly cystic Ovary.
Reply:All women get cysts, most don't even know it, I have PCOS, or poly-cystic ovarian syndrome. Just because you have one doesn't mean you are pregnant.
Reply:it does not in anyway mean you are pregnant if they saw the cyst they woulda saw if there were a yolk sac etc in the uterus oh my bad you'd only be a few days well it's too early to tell but most women develop small cysts during there cycle at some point they are harmless.........good luck wait a while a test!!
Reply:You may or not be. Not all pregnant women get this. A blood test will confirm for sure if you are pregnant. Do you have any other early pregnancy symptoms (tender breasts, frequent urination, no period, nausea)? I had a corpus luteal cyst at 4 weeks pregrnant and it was gone by my 8 week appointment. It will dissolve by the 8th week. You should go to the doctor for a test.
Reply:hello

cyst is a form of cancer of some sort

best
Reply:There is always a cyst when you pop an egg.. If you are preggo, it's called the corpus luteum cyst..This produces hormones that help keep the pregnancy..Mine always hurt, but I also have painful ovulation..So, it coensides. But, this is not a sure sign of pregnancy...We all have cysts sometimes..

I had a CT scan today that showed an ovarian cyst with free fluid in my pelvic region?

My question is this: Should I be concerned by these findings? I have constant pelvic pain that has had me in the hospital twice. The ER doctor today told me birth control would be my treatment. I wouldn't think this would do anything for the fact that I have free fluid and a hemmoraging cyst. I'm just confused and would like to hear others' opinions. Thanks.

Ovarian cysts of any kind can rupture or leak free fluid into the rectovaginal septum (aka Pouch of Douglas aka cul de sac). In patients with pelvic inflammatory disease, tubo-ovarian abcess, ruptured ectopic pregnancy and other certain conditions, free fluid is also often found. In your case, it sounds as though a cyst may have ruptured and you've got another one present. Ruptures are common with certain types of cysts, particularly "chocolate cysts" (endometriomas) and could definitely land you in the hospital with pain. Your findings, along with history and current symptoms, make Endometriosis a likely diagnosis. Oral contraceptives may quell some of the symptoms, but you deserve to have an actual diagnosis, which can only be obtained surgically. The good news is, the endometrioma(s) as well as the disease present throughout the pelvis can be removed during the same surgery. For current research, accurate info on the disease, advanced treatment options, help and support, see the following:

The above offer extensive information, resources, support and assistance with finding a doctor who can truly treat the disease and help you feel better for the long-term. Though there is no absolute cure for Endometriosis, treatment with a specialist who truly understands the disease is your best bet. And if Endo is not the problem, they will be better suited to diagnose and treat whatever is causing your symptoms. Good luck and best wishes.

How long does it take to heal after a pilinidal cyst surgery?

im a healthy female and have been lucky enough to get a pilinidal cyst dont know how but its extremely painful!!! i have to go in for surgery to get it removed and im wondering if anyone knows how long it would normally take to heal if i take care of it. i work for discover card and it requires me to sit for 8 hours so im assuming it may be a while b4 i can sit again and its going to affect my job :(

How long does it take to heal after a pilinidal cyst surgery?
A pilonidal cyst is actually a type of birth defect, so you didn't get it- you were born with it. In fetal development, the outer covering of the spinal cord fuses from top to bottom to encase the spinal cord. Sometimes this happens a little late, and a small amount of skin, complete with the sweat glands, gets fused inside. It's usually seen as a small dimple on the tail of the spine, and is extemely common. The sweat gland continues to produce sweat, and as there is no opening for it to escape through, it eventually blows out the gland. The body reacts by walling it off, creating the cyst. Eventually it can become quite large, and as you have no doubt noted, very painful. The surgeon will try to excise the cyst intact- without breaking it, as the entire cyst must be removed or it will happen again. Because the area is most usually infected already, the surgeons don't usually stitch the site closed. They create a pocket, of sorts, and it is packed with a long strip of material containing a low level antibiotic. It acts to drain the wound and keep things clean. Normally the packing material is changed on a daily basis, though every doctor has his own preferences and you will need to ask yours what he wants to do.

The first week post-op is usually the most miserable, although things shouldn't feel as miserable as they were before the surgery, at least after the first day. Most people are not comfortable sitting for long periods for the first week. The doctor should be able to provide you with a "donut", which is a round plastic air cushion that looks much like it's namesake. It won't make things wonderful, but it will help you sit without putting pressure on the area.

How long you take to heal is anyone's guess. It depends on your own ability to heal. Ditto with how much it will hurt and impact your life- it depends on how much pain tolerance you have. I would hazard to guess you should not plan to work for a week, and after that you would still be more comfortable sitting on your donut. If you can stand up to do your job for short periods, that would also help you return to work sooner.

You can influence your healing time by eating a good balanced diet and following all the post op instructions. My docs always gave an antibiotic to take for 10 days afterwards, and if yours does, be sure you take it for the full time, and as directed. For the first few days, I recommend you leave off the undies and air your tush as much as possible. Sunlight helps encourage the healing, and keeping things warm and dry help as well. Buns up in a patch of sunlight isn't that bad a position those first few days, and is usually the most comfortable position anyway. On the upside, the surgery usually takes care of the problem completely and there won't be a replay. And considering how much they hurt, that's always a good piece of news.
Reply:it took me 3 months to heal
Reply:Hi, I work for a general surgeon and we see %26amp; do surgery on pilonidal cysts routinely. If your surgeon excises the cyst and leaves the cavity open to granulate in on it's own; it will require packing changes 2-3 times per week. He wants the cavity to fill-in(granulate) on it's own, from the bottom of the wound up. If you try and suture the wound shut after surgery, you run the risk of the skin edges closing nicely, but having the wound fill up with fluid and turn into infection. The packing usually consists of plain or iodoform gauze packing strip.

It is a lengthy post-op treatment, but only real uncomfortable for the very first few packing changes. Once it starts granulating in, it doesn't hurt so bad. And be sure your doc gives you something for pain post-op too!

Good luck with your surgery.
